skinfan09
with less than 24hours left till the draft starts, tension gets high....very high. who will we pick? what position? well here you can express your thoughts about who we will pick up at no.53! post a reason to why you want to draft him and how that player can contribute. HERE IS TO #53!
skinfan09
Wouldnt mind getting this guy! Anwar Phillips #1 Cornerback Penn State Ht: 6'1 Wt: 192 Strenghts: Good height. Decent speed. Looks fluid in man coverage. Very aggressive and will step up to stop the run. Weaknesses: Needs to bulk up. Occasionally gets burned deep; bites too often on receivers moves and doesn't have the speed to recover from these mistakes. Comments: Could develop into a solid corner with some good coaching. Has the physical ability to succeed; just doesn't have the instincts or the smarts at this point in time
BleedBNG
Kelly Jennings (CB) if avalaible at #53. If not... Lutui or Spencer at Gaurd. Which means the Redskins will pick none of these.
MuDDSL1DE
IF we trade up or COULD trade up, i would want us to draft Antonio Cromartie, CB from the Florida State Seminoles. Hes is gonna be as much of a shutdown corner as one can be in the new NFL. :notworthy
Skins4481
IF we trade up or COULD trade up, i would want us to draft Antonio Cromartie, CB from the Florida State Seminoles. Hes is gonna be as much of a shutdown corner as one can be in the new NFL. :notworthy Yea but it seems more and more unlikely as his stock is soaring. If we cant get him, I hope we get Jimmy Williams or Cedric Griffin. Williams can become a great corner too and Griffin could become a solid corner but doesnt have the speed necessary to become a shutdown corner. I still want us to draft either one of these corners or Kiwanuka. LB is not a priority. Besides, we can go after someone like Donnie Edwards after June 1st cuts. brandies
I am for the trade down Should get Howard in the early third, if not Wilkenson or Alston Gerris Wilkinson Height: 6-3 | Weight: 233 | 40-Time: 4.72 Official Bio Strengths: Has good size and the frame to get bigger...Very athletic...Fast and quick with good range...An outstanding run defender...Big hitter and solid tackler who packs a punch...Smart with good instincts...A superb pass rusher and blitzer...Extremely versatile and has experience at inside linebacker and outside linebacker as well as defensive end...Was very productive...Still has a lot of potential and promise. Weaknesses: Coverage skills leave a lot to be desired but he has the physical tools to get better...Needs to get stronger and pack on some weight...Bounced around and has never been able to focus his attention on mastering one position...Raw. Notes: Could project to either inside or outside linebacker at the pro level...An interesting prospect who still has some upside once he can commit to a single position and be allowed to develop...Playmaker who could end up being a steal for someone. Outside Linebacker | Senior | Stanford Jon Alston (Kiper has him rated higher) Height: 6-0 3/4 | Weight: 223 | 40-Time: 4.40 Official Bio Strengths: Very athletic...Has excellent speed and quickness...Smart player who has great instincts...Very active and aggressive...A big hitter...Solid tackler and a good blitzer...Does a tremendous job in coverage...Has superb range with a burst and closes fast...Plays bigger than he is...Will make for a great special teams player. Weaknesses: Undersized both in terms of height and weight...Needs to get stronger and pack on some pounds...Struggles to take on and shed blockers...Might need to be in the right scheme to succeed...Might only be a situational player at the next level. Notes: A bit of a linebacker / safety 'tweener...Productive college player who should work out well...Doesn't have the size you look for but with his speed and athleticism it wouldn't be a surprise if he were drafted a little earlier than some might expect. In the Fourth (Kiper has all the players going in low to Mid Fourth round) Alan Zemaitis Height: 6-1 1/4 | Weight: 194 | 40-Time: 4.56 Official Bio Strengths: Has excellent size...Very instinctive and has good field intelligence...Has a nose for and makes a lot of plays on the ball...Is a sure tackler who isn't afraid to support against the run...Is smooth out of his breaks...Has a lot of experience against top competition and has been very productive...Came through with a nice senior campaign...A hard worker with excellent intangibles and top character. Weaknesses: Does not have elite speed which could be exposed by pro receivers...Does a much better job in zone coverage than in press / man-to-man...Should be more physical for a guy with his dimensions...Seems to lack fluid hips and just doesn't look real natural...Doesn't recover well...May have to change positions at the next level. Notes: Was in a serious car accident in 2003 but made a full recovery...Could potentially move to safety in the pros if he can't cut it outside at corner...Has some tools to work with but might need to be in the right system (Cover 2?) to succeed. Derrick Martin Height: 5-10 | Weight: 202 | 40-Time: 4.45 Official Bio Strengths: Has good size...Excellent timed speed and quickness...Has good hands and ball skills...Closes fast and breaks up a lot of passes...Still young but has a lot of experience...Also has some special teams value...Still has a ton of potential. Weaknesses: Does not play up to his size...Not very physical or aggressive...Tackling leaves a lot to be desired...Doesn't support the run well...Still raw and needs some technique work...Work ethic is a question and he admitted to taking plays off. Notes: Came out after his junior season even though there was a big drop-off in his play from 2004 to 2005...Underrated but very productive player who certainly has the physical tools...A pure cover corner whose stock could rise as the draft nears. Demario Minter Height: 5-11 1/8 | Weight: 190 | 40-Time: 4.52 Official Bio Strengths: Has good size...Excellent timed speed and it translates to the field...Very athletic...Has good range...Aggressive and is always around the action...Physical and will support the run...Has fluid hips and quick feet...Works through traffic well...Plays tough man coverage...Has a lot of experience...Still has some upside. Weaknesses: Hands and ball skills are very questionable to say the least...Was arrested for marijuana possession and has some off the field concerns...May have been helped by a strong supporting cast on the Georgia defense...Just doesn't make as many plays as you'd like to see from a guy with his tools...An underachiever? Notes: Has only 2 career interceptions with both coming as a senior...Still has some potential and could be a workout warrior...From a measurables standpoint he would seem to have everything you look for in a top cornerback prospect. Dee Webb Florida Height: 5-10 3/4 | Weight: 183 | 40-Time: 4.41 Official Bio Strengths: A great athlete with excellent speed and quickness...Has fluid hips and good feet...Smooth and changes direction well...Strong, tough and physical...Is a solid tackler and will play the run...A great leaper who knows how to position himself to break up passes...Hard worker who wants to be the best...Still has some upside. Weaknesses: Has only average height...Is too inconsistent and doesn't always play up to his talent level...Will take unnecessary risks and give up big plays...Doesn't have great instincts...Raw and will need technique work and development...Only started for two years...Character questions arose in Feb. that are concerning. Notes: Was a top recruit coming out of high school...Declared for the draft after his junior season even though he probably wasn't ready...Certainly has some physical tools to develop...Has the potential to start one day but is not yet a finished product. Elvis Dumervil Height: 5-11 3/8 | Weight: 257 | 40-Time: 4.75 Official Bio Strengths: Has great quickness with a burst...Solid build with long arms...Natural pass rusher who just knows how to get to the quarterback...Sheds blockers well...Turns the corner well...Has a great motor and never gives up on a play...Is always around the ball...Hard worker with good intangibles...Productive and notched double-digit sacks in both his junior and seniors seasons including 20 in 2005 alone. Weaknesses: Does not have the size you look for...Lacks elite timed speed...Is not a great natural athlete...Does not change directions well or have the agility necessary to make the move to outside linebacker...Needs to get stronger...Sub par versus the run...Did not play against a lot of elite competition or top offensive linemen. Notes: Came through with a monster senior campaign...Won the Nagurski and Hendricks Awards...Don't buy the Dwight Freeney comparisons because this guy isn't in that class when it comes to speed / athleticism...Doesn't have the physical tools you look for in terms of size and speed but you can't ignore his amazing production. Offensive Tackle | Senior | East Carolina Guy Whimper Height: 6-4 3/4 | Weight: 304 | 40-Time: 4.95 Official Bio Strengths: Has good size and the frame to bulk up further...An outstanding athlete with great quickness...Has excellent feet and is very mobile...Still a blank slate who can be molded since he doesn't have many bad habits yet...Has a ton of upside. Weaknesses: Extremely raw and needs a lot of development...Needs to work on his technique and must master the nuances of the position...Does not use his hands well...Gets by solely on his athleticism at this point...Had trouble staying eligible in college. Notes: Former tight end who only started along the offensive line for one season...Very much a project but has all the physical tools you look for...Some team may gamble on his potential much earlier than you would anticipate...Player who is on the rise. Defensive Tackle | Senior | Texas Rodrique Wright Height: 6-5 1/8 | Weight: 300 | 40-Time: 5.06 Official Bio Strengths: Big with a large frame that he could easily pack some additional pounds onto...An excellent natural athlete...Very quick and explosive with a burst...Strong and can hold his ground...Has great range and makes plays all over the field...Will penetrate and cause problems in the backfield...Has a lot of experience...Might be able to play defensive end in a 3-4 scheme...Still has quite a bit of potential. Weaknesses: An underachiever who doesn't always play up to his physical ability...Is not a hard worker...Technique is lacking...Will play too high at times...Allows blockers to lock on...Motor and stamina are very questionable...Has some durability concerns and dealt with a nagging angle injury for most of his junior season...Lacks desire. Notes: Cousin of NFL defensive lineman Cedric Woodard and his uncle Elmo was a first-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 1971...Talented player who looked like a future elite pro prospect early in his career before leveling off...Has all the tools to be great but must be more consistent...Maybe a boom or bust prospect. LT Smash
if kelly jennings is available in 2nd, we should trade some of our lower round picks to move up a couple spots and grab him. i woulda never thought he would make it out of the 1st, but some mock draft has him lasting until #43. itd take what, a 5th and a 6th to move up 10 spots? if that? Go deep witha DB!
