RiggoReincarnated
The guy had 142 carries for 600 yards in 2003...4.2 average yards per rush This year Portis had 352 carries for 1516 yards...4.3 average yards per rush Why did we not use Trung Candidate more...why did we get rid of him after the 2003 season, when he had only had 4 years in the league? Where is he now?

rlhjr34
Well, if E.J. and S.Alexander can be on the market and at one time S.Alexander was being offered for a 3rd round pick, what kind of market does that leave for T.Canidate?
MadMonkey
Candiate had that bad foot injury towards the end of the 03 season, and when Gibbs returned Trungs foot still wasn't 100% there were concerns about that and him being able to produce in Gibbs' powering running offense, plus he was sub par at blitz pickup and receiving out of the backfield. chaught76
FUMBLE, FUMBLIA, FUMBLEROSKIE, THE FUMBLENATOR, ITS A FUMBLE!!!! No, seriously I think he got hurt and was only thought of a temporary solution as RB.
inmate running the asylum
After the Skins acquired Portis, their cap was tight and they didn't want to pay Trung Candidate almost $1 Mil to be a backup. But evidently his foot injury was also more serious then everyone thought, because he hasn't even been invited to a camp in two years now.

ouvan59
I think some of you have short memories. Trung Canidate had the emptiest 4.2 yards per carry I've ever seen. He got it mostly on delays and draws. He was never allowed to lead his high school team onto the field because he couldn't break the paper "Wildcats" banner. ntotoro
Wow!!! Canidate had .1 more YPC that Portis!!! Why did we ever get rid of the guy?!?!?? Nevermind the fact that he only had two career 100-yard games. Ever.

Jethrodsp
What happened? Owners wised up and realized he couldnt cut it in the NFL. Too bad we had to be the ones to prove it to everyone but hey...
peachhaze
On paper, he was the perfect RB for Spurrier's offense. However, he was just so injury-prone. If I recall correctly, not only did he have a foot injury, but there were multiple ankle injuries also.
Shotgunner
Big Difference between 142 and 352, he would never hold up. However he did seem to be a decent 3rd down back.

Skins4481
Trung Canidate is just fine thank you. I met him the other day and we had a nice conversation about the football, the NFL, his time with the Redskins. He also said that he really loves his new job. Washing cars is very exciting for him. He is the fastest car washer there is and they're talking about promoting him to manager.
Maggio
You mean el matador... Don't you guys remember how horrible of a blocker he was back there??? For all his skills, he was one of the softest football players in the NFL.

Why did we ever get rid of the guy?!?!??Nevermind the fact that he only had two career 100-yard games. Ever. Because he was given the ball less then half as many times as Portis. He could very well be just as good if given the carries.

onedrop
His YPC is just as high as Portis. He could do the same with more carries. anything is possible but i tend to think that if canidate was going to be a premier back like Portis he would be already. the operative word from your post is COULD. and while it si possible that canidate "could" Portis "does". year in and year out.
