ptimeskins-11
That the Eli Manning for Philip Rivers trade happen? The reason why I bring this up because the Redskins choice was between Winslow and Taylor. I wanted Taylor very badly, Ed Werner made it seem like we were taking Winslow, So I was trying to think positive about having Winslow on our team. So we take Taylor, I'm excited. They show Taylor at his home for about 1.5sec. Because the Manning for Rivers trade was announced during the same time. So guess what ESPN focused on, Not our pick, the Giants-Chargers trade. They ramble on about that and then finally showed some Taylor highlights, Talked about that for 2min. Went to the trade again. Since Chris Berman loves Mannings I knew there were be no Taylor interveiw. I was right. Taylor was the only top 10 pick not interveiwed. I should be over it but when the draft comes around I'm always reminded of that. Does anybody else remember this? Or upset by it?
Slacky McSlackAss
I remember it. I also remember Winslow tellin Gibbs he was gonna pay for not drafting him after apparently gibbs promised to. SkinsNoles21
Yes man I think about that all the time. I was at the draft day party that day and standing down on the field when we drafted Taylor. Afterwards ESPN turned their cameras to the crowd to get the reaction. We were for a split second and then they cut in because the trade happened, I have always been pissed about that
stoney26
Sean seemed mad about the Skins picking him. I remember me being really happy at the draft day party and Sean seeming disgruntled

TC4
Of course ESPN rambled on and on about the Manning/Rivers deal I have come to realize that ESPN, when it comes to the NFL, basicly pumps up 4 teams: the Cowboys, because of their large yet moronicly idiotic fair weather fan base(it's all about ratings in that case), and the Patriots, Giants and Jets, due to their being close to the ESPN home base of Bristol, Connecticut, much in the same way that they pump up the Yankees and the Red Sox in MLB(again close to Bristol), and the LA Lakers in NBA(again, large fan base) Thus, since the Manning/Rivers deal involved one of the four NFL teams in question, they bandered on incessantly about it Plus, ESPN just HATES the Redskins
jschlesi
I was smarting cause I wanted us to trade down to 10-15 and get an extra pick at the bottom of the first so we could grab Vince Wilfork and Ben Watson.
PleaseGoForTheWin
Chris Cooley 100x > Winslow Besides, Taylor is a beast so it's a good thing Gibbs picked him. ESPN's hate is not surprising.
Snagletooth
Maybe Taylor wanted to play for Butch Davis. Was Davis still coaching the Browns then? I remember the clip of Taylor and how fusterated I was with the ESPN coverage. I expected for them to go back and get in the Taylor highlights that we missed with the QB trade going down. Never happend.
Critz1407
Yeah, that could have been our best decision not draft Winslow, that guy has problems
jwpanic
Sean seemed mad about the Skins picking him. I remember me being really happy at the draft day party and Sean seeming disgruntled he always looks mad. that is why the rest of the league is so terrified of him. he would probably frown at his own b-day party
H-O-G
I think we should just be grateful at the level that Sean Taylor plays, because how frustrating would it be if he was a bust? Just be grateful...
DiscoBob
I'm really glad we got Taylor over KW, but it would be interesting to see a "glimpse" of how Winslow would have faired in DC. He may have not gotten hurt, and could have had a great year knowing how much JG loves Tends/Hbacks...
Dweezel
Yeah, that could have been our best decision not draft Winslow, that guy has problems So does Taylor ...but at least he has played
Peregrine
Im not mad about it. The whole Rivers and Manning trade was a much bigger deal than any other individual who was picked in that draft. If they announced it during winslows pick, they would have cut him out too. Considering how big of a deal Manning made up to it, the surprise the Chargers picked him, then the blockbuster deal the Giants threw over to the Chargers, it was probobly the story of that, and the next 3-4 drafts. Butz65
I'm too lazy to search but I'd be interested to look back at fan reactions after we picked Taylor instead of Winslow. My bet is that the reaction was split. I seem to remember that many fans wanted Winslow to "boost" our offense as that seemed a more pressing need than adding another player to an already decent defense. I'm sure that no one will admit to that now.
pvkeeper19
I wasn't among the people who campaigned to draft Taylor, but I will say I was glad they didn't pick Winslow. I had a bad feeling about that guy, and it looks like I was right.
rydemps
Chris Cooley 100x > Winslow I agree, but I guess we'll find out this year when...if Winslow finally makes it out on the field.
jeronimobrat
Just out of curiousity- what did the Giants give up to bring Manning to their team. All that I can remember is taking a drive up to the FED EX building and listening to SportsTalk 980 when they had announced us drafting Sean Taylor. I was absolutely exuberant! What made it even more propelling was a guy who was driving alongside of me asked who we had drafted and told I him "Sean Taylor"! His exact words were "The kid is a Beast.":eaglesuck :gaintsuck xLavar :dallasuck

Lombardi's_kid_brother
O-kay.. remember.. you remember when you were with The Beatles, and you were supposed to be dead, and, uh, there was all these clues, that, like, uh, you played some song backwards, and it'd say, like, "Paul Is Dead", and, uh, everyone thought that you were dead? That was, um, a hoax, right? Paul McCartney: Yeah. I wasn't really dead. Chris Farley: Right. I think we.. I think we got time for one more question. Uh.. remember when you were in The Beatles? And, um, you did that album Abbey Road, and at the very end of the song, it would.. the song goes, "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make"? You.. you remember that? Paul McCartney: Yes. Chris Farley: Uh.. is that true? Paul McCartney: Yes, Chris. In my experience, it is. I find, the more you give, the more you get.
