In the article that has all readdy been posted regarding LaVAr in Giants town

http://washingtontimes.com/sports/2...10231-3619r.htm

There is an interesting paragraph at the end of page two which refers to Taylors trial being put off indefinitely to give time to allow the state office time to get a new lead up to speed . Is this goo or bad news I would have thought they would have had someone else involved who wouldnt need that much time . Just a thought.

The link is empty

Here is the good one:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/sports/20060425-010231-3619r.htm

Gibbs talked with safety Sean Taylor about his legal issues. Taylor's assault trial has been delayed indefinitely while the prosecution gets a new lead attorney up to speed.

"There were reasons for it being moved each time," Gibbs said. "I don't think anybody has a handle on it. If they continue to move it, it would be a concern as the season gets closer."

The link is dead, but if you go to the Lavar thread the link is active.

Difficult to discern what this means because we don't know what is going on behind the scenes. The prosecution should not need more than a couple of weeks to prepare for this case unless they are opening up the case and interviewing witnesses etc. for a second time. The lead investigator should simply brief the lead ADA and provide reports and such for review. I guess this is a good sign for ST because they are re-evaluating the case and hopefully will decline to prosecute.

That's my thoughts on this. If they are "bringing a new lead prosecutor up to speed" on this case, it most likely means a re-evaluation of the case. A new prosecutor may not see the same probable cause that Mr. Greico saw. For the most part, I'd say that this a good development.

I see this as a bad sign and find it a little strange his defense team didn't use the media to blast the prosecution for further delays. Heck, why not just put this lunacy off until AFTER another football season since it's "indefinite".

With any luck, by the time this case actually comes to trial his accusers will already be in jail and their testimony will mean even less.

I see the fact that the Sharpsteins apparently see no need to use the media as a further sign that the prosecution is re-evaluating the merits of the case. :logo:

Yeah, tomorrow at 2, I wonder if all this means that it looks like it won't get dismissed... I don't know what the chances are anyways. It has taken on a strange quiet to it, almost as if it's forgotten down there.... There were a few predictions that this would happen and it would quietly be dismissed, I wonder if that's going to be the case....

I don't know what will happen, but I do know Judges don't like to set indefinetly as their court date. I would be surprised if a continutation with no date is allowed.

No way anything concerning this case falls under the catagory of "quiet" anymore...lol

I see the delay as good news, because it makes it more likely that Sean's accusers will go to trial for their recent arrests. It is my understanding that if they are convicted before the Taylor trial, that information can be brought out in the trial to attack their credibility. If they have been arrested but not convicted, that can't be used against them in the Taylor trial. If there are any lawyers following this thread, could they comment on this?

Don't know if it was already posted, but the new prosecutor is Abe Laeser, preliminary searches would suggest that he's a veteran, and tried some reasonably large cases for them.

So, Taylor's case has gone from being handed to an ADA-slash-DJ, to a veteran prosecutor who's tried large cases. They know they've got some damage to fix on this...

It should be dismissed for lack of prosecution! What happened to the right of a speedy trial?

I don't know but there is a time frame, if it doesn't get taken care of in a certain amount of time it gets thrown out. That's legal jargon for "you can't continue a case forever"

It's been mentioned in other threads that he probably was forced to waive his right to a speedy trial in lieu of his requests for continuances. :logo:

Man I read about that Abe guy....He questioned a guy for 10 hours about a shooting......that is a long time to answer questions....sounds like Abe is no joke.

Sadcase! Long time no see.... So, I was reading your post history, and noticed a few things. I'd so over 80% of your posts on the board relate to the ST Trial, and you seem to be a defender of the prosecution...even ADADJ Dirty Sanchez, ESQ. Just curious, you don't seem to interested in everything else on the board, but pop up in all these threads, so whats with the intense interest in the whole thing?

The last part is just more general curiousness...but what does your name stand for, S A Case?
