BD
I'm really disappointed, but today I called Redskins Park and found out that there was no draft day event scheduled for this year. Maybe this was announced a while ago, and I just never heard it - I've been a little distracted lately - but honestly folks, this depresses me. I mean, I know we aren't going to be picking until late, but still, it would've provided fans with a chance to meet Randle El, Lloyd, Archuleta and the rest...it would've provided fans an opportunity to talk to Al Saunders and all of that...and you know that pick or no pick, people would still show up to buy hot dogs and beer, tour the stadium, and buy the newest and oldest jerseys ($20 for LaVar!) at the store... The personal angle in this is that I had hoped to take my grandfather this year, a longtime Redskins fan who was recently diagnosed with cancer. I would've loved for him to get a chance to walk on the field and see the coach in person. In any case - I understand why they're not having it, and yes, it's a late pick, but I had hoped that after a playoff season, we'd get a chance to bond in April and rejoice we aren't picking fifth. Huly
My thoughts and prayers are with you BD. We knew this was coming for awhile. We have been trying to find a place to hold a draft day tailgate but as of yet we still do not have a place to go. With "no burning laws", no alcohol laws, and park permits etc it is pretty much not going to happen. i am still not going to be the one who tells Bugs' no wings! FYI Harris Teeter in Fairfax has posters for draft day at Fed Ex Field but they are wrong. They gave us all false hope.

BD Sorry to hear about your grandfather, BD. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. The Redskins HAD scheduled a Draft Day Party, but decided to not have one after they knew they were only going to pick later on the 29th. I was looking forward to this like I do every year, but even though we were picking late, I (along with alot of fans) would have still came out to FedEx Field anyway. I guess we will have to wait until next year, and I don't want to be the one to tell bugs' that he WON'T be eating any of pez's wings this Saturday.
Frunobulax
Will you guys be trading down from the 4 spot? LOL. Maybe we can get your number two pick.
LD0506
They ought to have a Free Agent party for the guys we already picked up instead, less drama but we already know what we're going to see. Why pass up a perfectly good reason to get the gang together and celebrate?
fdarugar
all the best to your grandpa, atleast you can still take him to camp.

HailYeah
This is all a smokescreen. We are trading up to the mid -20s, and will have an impromptu draft party!
BD
Thanks so much for your kind and heartfelt words, everyone...and yes, I'm hoping that I'll be able to take my grandfather to camp. He's doing very well considering, but he has a form of cancer that moves pretty rapidly, so if any of you feel in a prayerful mood, it'd be much appreciated. As for the draft day event - I still have friends coming into town, so we'll plop down in front of the big screen and stuff our faces. And hopefully we'll have a great one next year at the stadium, coming off an epic Super Bowl run. BD
