skinfan2k
Santana Moss had a tremendous year last year for us and no one in the blue expected him to explode on the scene like he did ( maybe the coaches). When the trade was first annouced, i thought we were getting a playmaker but not a typical #1 WR.. Boy I was wrong. I thought Patten was going to be our " GO TO GUY". Well Last season mark brunell was able to develop chemistry really quick with him. Do you think that moss can stay heathly this upcoming season, or will his hamstrings affect us? Is it me or do players that come from the AFC get less banged up from the NFC? What production do you see Moss having this year. I personally think that receptions will drastically take a hit, but i do see an increase in production in yards and TD? What are your expectations for him and the rest of the WR corps? Can we expect 3 1000 yd recievers or maybe 4 500 yd WR(includes cooley).. And how much repsect will Moss recieve in 2006?
CPstretch
i dont want to jinx it and say we will have 3 1000 yard receivers. we very well could. moss will not have the same kind of year in 06 as he did in 05. but he wont have to. we will have other options aside from just him and cooley. moss will have 1200 yards or so, but he will have a much higher YPC. Bostic Hog
I think that Moss will actually post better numbers this year: 1) another season to get with this Offense 2) Al Saunders WILL open it up 3) tough to double when we also have Lloyd and RE 4) we play the Eagles twice HTTR

bulldog
Moss will have fewer grabs but will likely have more touchdowns. More options mean more opportunities to drive into the red zone. I also look to see Cooley up his TD production in 2006 but with probably less total catches. Antwaan Randle El will not be a 90 catch receiver for the Redskins but he doesn't have to be in order to earn his keep. Randle El is the type of player that defenses don't easily account for. He can throw it, catch it and run it. He has great speed and ability to change direction. I could see him getting 40-50 catches and still being a vital player for the offense to have. Lloyd to me is the big question mark. Is he going to blossom here into a 70 catch, 1,000 yard receiver to complement Moss or is he going to be a 45 catch, 750/800 yard guy that has his good games and his so-so games? That is the real question.

Anyway. I think that between the Next Gen Smurfs we will see at least 2,700 yards, with Santana making maybe 40% of them.
CPstretch
Wouldn't number two negate number one? thats what i was thinking but at the same time, it could mean more time for him and brunell to mesh, and more time for genius gibbs to come up with plays which suit his quickness
bulldog
what would be really ironic is to see David Patten come back and be the #2 receiver in 2006. but realistically, I don't see that happening, not at age 33.
Weganator
Santana will produce in the beginning IMO just like he did last year, and Lloyd will have a decent first few games, but coverage will eventually tilt towards Santana, and then Lloyd will have a breakout 2nd part of the season
CPstretch
one thing you can count on is saunders throwing the ball to the person you least expect. he is known for calling a play that the defense doesnt expect, and that is very exciting for us fans
bulldog
the other 'x' factor is Fauria. he could end up with some TD catches to his credit. defenses will be focused on Moss, Lloyd, Cooley and Portis in the red zone. that means opportunities for our tight end. CPstretch
saunders has got to be having a field day when drawing up the playbook. he and gibbs have to be loving all these weapons
bulldog
what is really amazing is that Gregg Williams evidently asked Gibbs to bring in an offensive assistant with a high profile to improve the team. only a confident man would recommend bringing in a guy that could easily be a HC candidate if Gibbs were to resign. GW has some balls suggesting this to GIBBS, who won 3 SBs, and he has done jack **** in the NFL. Wow, Gibbs has no ego and wants to bring glory back to this franchise
bulldog
I have no proof of this, but my 'gut' says that Williams has been promised the HC job if and when Gibbs resigns. The ideal scenario for Williams is for the Skins to win in 2006 and have Joe be able to ride out in 2007 so he can take over the day to day operations of the team. I could easily see Gibbs staying on though as GM and team president after winning in 2006.
CPstretch
having gibbs on board for as long as possible even if he isnt the head coach would be the greatest thing of all time

Wow, Gibbs has no ego and wants to bring glory back to this franchise That is great. That's why Gibbs will always be loved, in this city and around the leauge. And Williams must have balls the size of bowling balls to ask that-- more power to him. But more on topic, I can't wait to see Moss operate now that we have all these new weapons. No secondary can concentrate on him alone w/o paying for it.

bulldog
Moss was diplomatic but you could see he was basically saying at the end of the season that defenses keyed on him because they knew Taylor Jacobs and the other receivers when Patten went down weren't worth scratch as threats in the NFL. The fact Jacobs has not been cut to this point is surprising given his performance. The only thing I can think of is that Saunders requested that he have a full summer to evaluate Jacobs before giving the OK to jettison him. LoudMouth12thMan
I think the ball will be distributed all over and there will be a balance amongst the receivers as far as yards, YACs, and TD's, Rec...ect...I worry about the pressure for Brunell. You'd think all of those options are going to make it easier, but it may cause him to hold on to the ball longer. I remember a few occasions where he had some open options on his 3rd and 4th progressions, and he looked unsure. So, if he can have confidence in all of his options, and they run solid routes this offense should open defenses WIDE OPEN! Santana will have another great season, but the numbers don't have to be as big now IMO. HTTR!
Porterhouse12er
IMO Portis benefits easily with the WR additions Moss will get his but like i said Portis will have top 3 all time seasons omg RBs if he stays healthy 2000 yards is very possible like u said open up defenses i dont really see Gibbs jsut airin it out cause he can he will utilize his weapons to the advantage of always keeping defenses unsure moss 85 catches 8 tds portis 2000+ yards and 25tds I think the ball will be distributed all over and there will be a balance amongst the receivers as far as yards, YACs, and TD's, Rec...ect...I worry about the pressure for Brunell. Considering he probably won't be double covered most of the time... I agree with you. Moss is DANGEROUS if they don't.
