Ghost of
I had never seen this hilarious spoof of R Kelly's "hip hopera" (by the way, that was done already with Prince Paul and others, why does R Kelly think he invented that?) but I found it on YouTube. Check it out. It's VASTLY superior to SNL's skit (VASTLY, they actually rhyme a bit in this one and the 'story' is funnier.) I also had underestimated Jordan Peele, he's pretty good. "B, I need my Cheerios!"
skinz1972
maybe b/c kelly's was a big hit and the others wasnt.
Ghost of
maybe b/c kelly's was a big hit and the others wasnt. Popularity doesn't determine what came first and if I knew about the others, then they aren't THAT obscure, ya know.

SKINtil8tin
Excellent! Thanks for posting, Ghost! R. Kelly's a joke so anything that makes fun of him is fine with me. First (and only) time I saw R. Kelly's, I thought that was a parody - took me a couple minutes to figure out it was for real. I kept waiting for some audience laughter.

As for his other antics.... they don't really play into my opinion

dfitzo53
Does this thread title make anyone else think of the Indian in the Cupboard? I loved that book! I had the same thought actually. The clip was hilarious. A friend of mine actually owns the series just because it's so ridiculous. The behind-the-scenes commentary with R. Kelly is just plain silly. The man believes he's created a classic.

First (and only) time I saw R. Kelly's, I thought that was a parody - took me a couple minutes to figure out it was for real. I kept waiting for some audience laughter. I know, I actually found this hilarious without even SEEING the real R Kelly video. I just know what R Kelly does in his videos, he's very melodramatic to the point now where it's become comedy. I guess that's what happens when you make serious sport of pissing on young girls. The clip was hilarious. A friend of mine actually owns the series just because it's so ridiculous. The behind-the-scenes commentary with R. Kelly is just plain silly. The man believes he's created a classic. Yeah, he's a real nut. I mean, R Kelly has done some great stuff in the past (both inspirational and the wholly base) but this is NOT a classic. It's dumb, the song doesn't ever change, it's not a damn opera. He's talking about a PLAY based on the videos? WHAT THE??! The only REAL hip hopera I know of is the one with Prince Paul and Beyonce from years back. At least they changed music during the course of the performance. I had not realized how talented Jordan Peele was, his facial expressions are classic in this skit and he doesn't have a terrible voice. you can tell he knows he nailed it cuz at the end he's smiling and nodding his head. Instant classic! "I used to get 2 percent, now I'm gonna try soy. I needs my proteins, I am a growing boy!"

Ghost of
The cashier says, 'Hey, aren't you?' I said, 'Yes, keep it down.' He says, 'MC Hammer!'
