Stigmata
First off, what brand is this? The only difference is the amount of RAM? I agree its a ram difference, and the brand, the way i see it ASUS is the #1 motherboard manufacture, they have the best imho. So really the name on the case means little if its got ASUS inside, that's really what you should key in on not the name brand. and after that do a search on ratings on the name and type of ram its price and all the other things in the machine, you can look up the specs and find out what these items cost and get a good idea if how low or high budget the hardware really is.. Like you can go to TomsHardware.com and read reviews on the hardware in the machine. If you can get a spec sheet, you can get the ASUS mother board model# and see if its last years model. Many companies post these impressive specs when in reality its last years junk and its practically antiquated when you put it on your desk.. Good luck
CHUBAKAH
I would be interested to know what type [brand] of power supply comes with that case. If you intend on going with dual video cards [later on], be sure your up around 550 watts, and that it is no less than an Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply. I would go with the SLI premium board [that is what I run] which is slightly better than the regular SLI board. I’m not sure how much gaming you do, but if you are avid gamer then you have the option down the road to add a second video card. It’s going to be very important to have good power for this board regardless of one or two video cards. They run like a dog with bad power, which is well documented. Either of the two boards can take up to 4 gigs of ram, and they run dual memory so make sure if you get the 2 gigs of ram to start that you are getting 2 sticks 1 gig each, and not 4 sticks of 512 as it will take all of your slots. I’d recommend to you to come over to a group I belong to that give a ton of information. If nothing else go to the leader board, and look at the systems that have been designed with the consumer in mind, so three systems are consumer ready, and the other is a monster. http://www.pcper.com/hwlb.php We also have just a crazy forum, but we have a room just for the ASUS SLI boards. http://forums.pcper.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 In my opinion you are on the right path. I would make a couple of changes, but you have to know I am the type of guy that runs games, video editing software, flash, photoshop, and has no problem throwing money away on computer parts [that’s what the wife says anyhow], so what I say you’ll have to take with a grain of salt. If you have any other questions, i'd be happy to steer you in the right direction AWAY from any name brand PC. Go Custom Built Or go Home!
Johnny Punani2
It is also a video card difference and a big one at that. Get the higher end system... The Motherboard and memory are the best on the market. You want the best mobo and memory you can get.
Coach Williams
It is also a video card difference and a big one at that.Get the higher end system... The Motherboard and memory are the best on the market. You want the best mobo and memory you can get. If you're a cheap *** the lesser will actually be great as well..... the card in the #2 computer is #1 while the first one is about 3rd or 4th.......still realy nice..... the ram difference between 1g & 2g in not noticeable..........yet....... the processor you have is roughly the 7th best one you can get and pretty much top of the line is you wanna stay under 3K....good deal IMO the ASUS-A8n was released I BELIEVE in December and blew gamers away with it's performance..... ASUS also has released the ASUS-a32n & the a32R which are slightly better in some aspects.....but once again you personally wouldn't know the difference ________________ IMO....get the lesser of the 2 and load up on protective software because you don't want either to die on you........ rebornempowered
If you are getting a 939 board you should look into this processor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103588 It is only a little bit more and has a bigger L2 Cache. CHUBAKAH
If any of you check this site out let me know what you all think. Thanks, Mike... If i'm being honest, I think his prices are up ther, but it could be because it is back east. I am less than 3 miles to ASUS, a mile from Corsair, and I can hit zipzoomfly almost with a rock.
