Judging by NCAA 07, Madden 07 for next gen looks to be awesome

We all know by now that Mr. Alexander the Great Con-artist(con for concussion) will be on the front cover for Madden 07. What that means is that EA will be focusing on the running game this year as whoever is on the cover for Madden that year is on it due to some development factor. For instance, last year, the quarterback was the major upgrade the developers made and that is why Donovan was chosen. It's been a long time coming for the running game in Madden to be upgraded, since the collision detection was unbearable. You can hardly run up the middle, only to the sides, due to the RB getting stuck behing his blockers.

But what else will ne new and all next-geny? Check out this preview of NCAA 07 for the 360. A lot of what's new in there will most likely make it into Madden 07, like the awesome changes being made to the weather system.

Can't wait. Especially knowing the Redskins will be rated quite nicely next year(although that probably means more bandwagon Madden players picking the Skins). :point2sky

i disagree. as a madden player i like to establish the run and then build off that. I have been very successful and effective every year in running up the middle. Alot of it is playcalling you have to mix it up, and being in the right formation and masking your intentions. It requires a little patience in the backfield. You have to let the hole develope, yet u can't wait too long because the window of opportunity is very slim. the trickiest part is on the next level reading the saftey. my full back will usually pick up the lb, and its up to me to beat the saftey. if i can get through the first tier and beat the safety to the outside, its usually a first down and then some. I do agree that they can do alot to improve the running game, but i think the success ratio of running inside is about right.

what i would like to see back in the game is the playmaker when scrambling. it was in two years ago and then it was taken out for the qb vision. I love the qb vision, but there has to be a way to improv in a broken play. also the controlling your lead block was replaced by the truck stick. imo they need both

I wish they could incorporate gang-tackling. How many times has a QB/RB/WR been held up by one of my defenders, and I'm using Sean Taylor and tap the hit stick for a huge hit, and I just sail right by without touching the player...

Yup, collision detection in Madden is a huge problem. I was always a 2k fan myself, and the animations in that game were incredible. Gang tackles and all... you'd never see the same tackle twice.

The problem is that Madden runs it's animations at 30 frames per second, so they're noticeably slower, whereas the 2k series ran them at 60 frames per second and had more motion sensored animations at that... that's why it was so much more life like and smoother.

If you read the preview for NCAA 07, they mention how they've managed to motion capture a ridiculous amount of more tackles... forget the exact number. That probably means we'll see a huge difference there as well.

The next gen will truly arrive this summer and fall! Can't wait!

I do the same... except that in the 360 version running up the middle is not as fluid as it should be. It is too often that the RB gets stuck behind an Offensive lineman... but it's not completely broken, ur right. I still run up the middle quite often. Establishing the running game is almost a guaranteed win. :applause:

when scrambling with qb in 360 version if you hit the r trigger and the l trigger at same time, you can use right analog stick to move your receivers/blockers.

Down with EA! 2k sports will make the best game ever in five years.

I agree. I played Madden for several years in a row, but when I finally got around to playing ESPN NFL2K5 (after becoming extremely sick of the stupid Madden glitches), I was blown away. It still has some unfortunate problems, but it beats Madden hands down any day. The graphics on the 360 look great, but if the game is going to be the same as every other Madden released the past 4 years, then I'll do without it.

madden has become so popular that it would be very hard for another game to come and take over

you could also argue that in 5 years, people will be ready for a change. who would have thought Microsoft would have been so successful in the video game industry years ago when everyone and their mama owned a Playstation 1??
