iheartskins
It's kind of impossible to make an assessment of whether someone is going to be a good quarterback in the NFL without looking at their experience in addition to their talent. How a particular player projects in the NFL is one thing, but really analyzing whether they are going to be good requires looking at both. On paper, Campbell looks decent. His last year at Auburn was his best, by a substantial margin. He looks good when he's tossing the ball on the sidelines and the field before games. But whether any of that potential will lead to a good NFL quarterback is a guess, at best. We know what we've seen of his college career, but there's no way to judge what will happen when he actually touches down and plays his first NFL downs. Will someone injure him irrevocably (I hope not!)? Will he have crappy vision? Will the fact that he had two All American running backs behind him at Auburn show when he only has one? There's SO much unknown that there's no way to make a good projection. If the guy had played more than a single down, a game even, we could make some kind of guess. Until then, your guess is as good as mine.
Taylor21theBeast
They say he moves well in the pocket and is a marksman at leading receivers..... which makes the personnel pick-ups over the last couple of years at receiver total genius in my opinion. atloldskin
The guy is very big. He is strong and athletic. He has a good arm and good touch. He made good decisions his senior year at Auburn, but can he play in the NFL? Our pre-season games will be important to gauge this fact now that Brunell is the known starter. SkinsHokieFan
What I like about him is he came through in the clutch at Auburn his senior year He came through in big games against Tenessee in both the regular season and SEC championship game In the Sugar Bowl, it really was his performance that made the difference against VT. The Auburn running game was not doing much, it was Campbell on 3rd and 17 moving in the pocket and firing strikes for first downs which got them the win Poise, clutch, calm. I like those intangibles that he brings

Kurd Cudins
I was watching John Clayton on ESPN two days ago and he talked about Campbell. His take was that Campbell will be given a large # of snaps in the preseason in an effort to get him ready to play. Clayton also said that he wouldn't be suprised if Campbell passed Brunell before the start of the season. I was a little shocked but I have the uptmost respect for Clayton. At this point it is a given that he(Campbell) will be given every opportunity to win the starting job, but it will be hard to supplant an incumbent who had a great year and lead the team to the playoffs.:helmet:
DiscoBob
I think I've read reports that say his vision (ie. ability to see receivers other than #1) is suspect? Does anyone know if there is evidence to back up this claim, or if he has improved at this in practice?

I like those intangibles that he brings I have a buddy who's a huge UGA fan, and he was saying the same thing about Campbell. He said that he's seen numerous occasions where Campbell would put the team on his shoulders and carry them. A lot of people think that it's just the running game that won them games. But apparently Campbell was running the show pretty well there. Edit: BTW, Welcome NewQB?! Enjoy yourself. Be sure to use the search function. And read the rules. jmich001
When Santana Moss was asked if Cambell would start over Brunell this year he replied by saying "if it aint broke, dont try to fix it" and "Cambell is still adjusting to the NFL defenses." I saw him at training camp last year go against the first D. Out of twenty plays I would say about 4 runs, 14 completed passes, and two incompletions. (one droped by Antoinio "hands like feet" Brown and one Hawked out of the sky by a guy named Sean Taylor.... Looked impressive....

Does anyone know if there is evidence to back up this claim, or if he has improved at this in practice? I've heard similar reports. But it depends what way you look at it, because i've heard other people saying exactly that^^, but in this way: Campbell is great at getting the ball in the playmakers of the teams hands. Buck812
Physically, not nearly as talented as Jeff George was and a lot more talented than Joe Montana. Which one does he more closely resemble mentally? Thats the question.
bobzmuda
I've heard accuracy is his weakest link. Can't wait to see more in preseason... Accuracy is probably his strongest point given that he completed roughly 70% of his passes his senior year (with a good number of them downfield passes). Gibbs has also pointed out that Campbell is very accurate. If you want to get an idea of what Jason Campbell is like as a QB, watch these clips I compiled of him during the SEC Championship Game. It's just Jason Campbell plays so you can make up your own mind on what kind of potential he has. LT Smash
well, he doesnt have to be outstanding. with the cast hes got around him, hes just got to be smart and accurate. if he can just manage games, well be in very good shape.
Earthcat
They ran a pro style offense with coordinator Al Borges. There were many times when Jason would hit second, third, fourth man. He had four or five talented wide outs, a pretty good TE and RBs you should know about. His style reminded me of Randall Cunningham and he can run like that, but hopefully won't be forced to too often.
Sunburn
Good Lord I hope Brunell plays well or everyone and their mother is going to be screaming for Campbell to start. I think 99% of Skins fans just want the best QB in there. If Brunell IS doing poorly and is being nothing but a liability, Campbell should play. Sunburn
He completed 69.6 percent of his passes in college. No accuracy problems, I wouldn't think.
hanster
You can bet that he is very capable. Joe Gibbs wouldn't have traded last year to get him.
