Cromartie vs. Macphearson

Everyone is talking about how the skins need to trade up in order to obtain Cromartie who will be gone by the 52nd pick. They have overlooked, I believe, another good corner straight out of Maryland, Gerrick Macphearson. Looking at his build and the way he plays, he resembles Rogers whom the Skins coveted the most out of any corner in last years draft. So lets keep the picks we have and draft Macphearson, who will be around come our pick. What do you say?

McPhearson is 5'10". That is two inches shorter than Rogers and four/five inches shorter than Cromartie. He is fast but not any faster than Cromartie and certainly not quite as capable at man-handling WRs at the line. Of course, his biggest knock is that he is a VERY inconsistent CB and would be a much bigger project than Cromartie (who is, admittedly, rough around the edges as well).

Most people don't have McPhearson even in the top 15 of all CBs in the draft, either.

mcphearon is horrible... cromatrie is a deion prototype hes 6.4 with blazing speed. i wish we get this guy, him and rogers alogn with AA and ST would be a tremendous secondary for the next decade. Springs maybe has 1-2 yrs in him to play as 1st cb then its off to nickel

McPhearson is a gifted athlete, but that is all he is right now. If we could get em in the 5th then he is worth a pick, but not before then.

It is insane to compare Cromartie and McPhearson though just because they are comprable athletically doesn't make them gametime equivalents.

If we get Cromartie let's just say goodbye to are first round pick next year. Cromartie is going to be a good CB but do you really want to give up a first next year and a second this year?? This is the real question. And for McPhearson he's not going 2 get draft until the 2 day. So if we want to use a fifth round pick on him go ahead. I perfer Wyatt from USC than McPhearson personally, he's going to be a still in the draft.

You right. I don't. I think this year we should stick with what picks we have and take the best available player with our first pick if he is a DE, CB, OG, OT or OLB. I know we are playing what if this guy gets hurt or that guy gets hurt but honestly guys NO team has starting material siting on the bench in every position. With the cap and the 53 man roster we need to take a chance. Right now what can hurt us and what hurt us last year was the non-depth on OL. It was pathetic last year to see Raymer playing OG on the most critical drive in a playoff game. Give Bugel some material to work with I say. CB, if a quality player is not there at the 53 spot we can wait and pick out next year as Springs will be able to play at a high level this season and next. With Taylor, Rogers, Springs and AA and a decent nickel I say we are deep enough at that spot.

Yes!!! If it means getting a stout player like Cro who can further cement our physical style of defense...his impact will be relatively immediate! I would also be fine with us doing this for any of the other high impact DEFENSIVE players that will go in the first round. As far as offense goes, second round is just dandy with me.

But I don't think we'll pull it off. My gut is saying Dallas is going to take Cro...(if they know what's good for them:( )

yes i would want to give up a first round next year for him. This guy is 6'4 with blazing speed(under 4.4) and the redskins again next year will trade up to the first round if they believe they need a talent that is in the draft

If we get him I wouldn't be upset, I just wish one year we are able to keep are picks that's all. I think Cromartie is going to be a great CB, but do we really have the cap room to sign all these markey players. We are 3.4 under the cap this year, we all know Sean Taylor will want a new contract after this year. Cause he is underpaid. Let's look at the big picture.
