AKM311
Is it possible we trade him before the draft? He has yet to sign an extension, which is very awkward considering we gave up a 3rd and a 4th. It could be possible, doubtful but possible.

fdarugar
No way, he signed his RFA tender...we have a year to negotiate a contract with him.
Major Harris
no way. why would we? we won't get value equal to a 3rd and a 4th, so it's pointless.
The Batman
NO. NO NO NO. Gibbs has already said he intends to use Lloyd as a possession guy. Besides, considering Lloyd's statement about being thrilled to be here and about contracts, "those things work themselves out, I'm just here to play football," I don't think we have to worry about him going anywhere anytime soon. :logo:
AKM311
We dont know what we would get yet, but I just find it fishy that we dont have a contract worked out and its been 6 weeks since the trade.
inmate running the asylum
There is nothing awkward about it at all. We assumed the 49er contract and he is under contract for 2006. You dont know what was promised him. The Skins may be waiting to give him a new contract after June 1st, which was what we did with Santana Moss. Neither Lloyd nor his agent have made a big issue of this yet.
edgun88
I don't want to get rid of him. He has too much potential of being a true Redskin, plus he has nasty hands. Also, we need a strong three receiver set.
AKM311
Trust me, I want him to stay. But it looks like were not even pushing for a contract until after the draft. That has to have some meaning, unless were just too busy.
Loxley
He hasnt taken the field yet. Why would we trade an "unknown" commodity. We gave up 2 picks for him, i think he should get a chance to play before anyone says anything about trading.

We gave up 2 picks for him, i think he should get a chance to play before anyone says anything about trading. We gave up two picks for him, true. However if you can get better value for him than the 2 picks that we gave up or can parlay him plus the 2nd round pick to move into the 1st round, why not? unknown commodity for unknown commodity. The fact that he has yet to sign a new contract, when that was the standard fair for the JetSkins RFA trades makes me wonder...

inmate running the asylum
The fact that he has yet to sign a new contract, when that was the standard fair for the JetSkins RFA trades makes me wonder... I think there was a difference between the Jet signings and Lloyd's signing. We had to give Coles a big contract that the Jets would not be willing to match. In Lloyd's case the 49ers were WILLING to trade him and did so, so we didn't even have to sign Lloyd to a new contract. However, there is one thing that is puzzling about this. The 49ers by rule were ENTITLED to a 1st round draft pick because they tendered Lloyd $1.5 Mil, AND YET they settled for far less in a 3rd and 4th round pick. That was kind of odd to me and I still dont know why they did that. When we signed Coles, the Jets were entitled to a 1st round pick and they got it. Maybe Cerrato who used to work for the 49ers knew that the 49ers were not that enamored with Lloyd and would settle for less? :whoknows:

HailYeah
thread should be locked:doh: Seriously. The NFL does not work like baseball. Teams dont wheel and deal players at will, because if they did, they would lose value. Also, the team looks weak because either A) they have no idea what they are doing, are unsure about what they are doing, or C) treat players like dog ****. Either way it just doesnt work in football. Well you can count on the 49ers incompitent front office for that one. I think alot of the teams (SF, MInn, Sea) dropped the ball and did not tender the correct amount or use the correct tag (franchise versus the now worthless transition). Beyond that, something still smells fishy about this trade and I cant put my finger on it.
AllAboutSkins08
there's no way we'd trade him. you know gibbs loves vets and people who've had experience over people fresh out of the draft. if we want to make a run at the SB we need proven players. i know he hasn't proven anything on OUR squad, but he's proven some things in san fran so we have a better chance with him than we do some rookie who's never played in the NFL. Would you have thought TO would be traded for Brandon Whiting and a 3rd rounder? News flash, not one person has liked this idea in this thread yet. How do you know if they have thought about this at redskins park? Have you been there since we got lloyd? Didnt think so... And who cares about that POS "TO", i mean really.... just as long as we didnt get him is all every die hard skins fans cared about. Now start creating threads with meaning and truth instead of posting crazy far fetched ideas , or is that big house in potomac blurring your thought process? Making black and white predictions like that isnt a recipe for success. What did he prove in SF? His numbers were mediocre at best on a piss poor team. True we traded for him for a reason but if someone offers you more than what you paid for him, then you have to at least entertain the thought. MustangSteve
You have got to be kidding right? Dude hasnt even made training camp yet and you people already have a price and trade on him  Joe Gibbs signed him with still 1 year left on his contract in SF, hes going be playing for the Redskins this year, and it would be nice to see how he plays before you start pawning him off :rotflmao:
