EnFoRcEr_uPu
I apologize if this was already posted as I don't know how old it is. I didn't see it when I searched however so here it is: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/histteam?team=was&action=login&appRedirect=http%3A%2F%2Finsider.espn.go.com%2Fnfldraft%2Fdraft%2Ftracker%2Fhistteam%3Fteam%3Dwas I did not post the actual picks on the boards because the format did not transfer over well from ESPN.com. I was also curious, if anyone here knows a lot about these players(much more than I do I'm sure), would you be willing to rate the picks and maybe give a reason why for each? Would be interesting to reflect on it.

GiantsFanMan
That run from 91 to 97 is pretty bad, but 99-00 was nice. Then it got kinda ugly again.

chronicdesi
I don't know if it really got ugly after 2000, I mean yeah Gardner was a bust, but Ramsey still has a lot of potential, and I hope he does well. He didn't really have a chance here.. Taylor is a beast, Arrington has time to still make an impact **hopefully not in the nfc east** and JC is gonna be great **YES I KNOW WISHFUL THINKING**... Om
Before drawing too many conclusions, I'd recommend checking out the picks of a handful of other teams as well. Nothing brings home the hit/miss nature of the draft better, even in the first round.

Most seem to look at past drafts from the perspective of the hits, the current NFL stars, but if you look at lists of entire first rounds from the past, it gives you a much more realistic view of the true nature of the draft. And if you add the pre-draft hype for the eventual first round misses it's even more eye opening.
PiLfan
What ever happened to the OT Johnson from Penn State? he was released that preseason and never played for us...a first round pick that didn't even make the final roster cut. ugh... some might say Shuler or Howard was our low point...but i think ol' Andre might have been the nadir. Anyway, the Redskins have just been mediocre in the first round over the last fifteen years. They have been positively horrifying in the second round and beyond. pvkeeper19
I always like to look through the NFL season preview magazines. Without fail, one of them will have an article that looks at the first round draft class from ten seasons ago or something. You get to see the beginnings of some of today's stars--and also wonder who the heck the rest of them are who seem to have dropped off the face of the earth. ouvan59
What ever happened to the OT Johnson from Penn State? Nothing. He got cut by the Skins and then was picked up by the Dolphins I believe and then was cut again before he ever played a down in the NFL. It could just be chalked up to a bad pick save for the fact that we actually traded up into the first round to get him.
D'Pablo
If Sean Taylor gets his act together, he'll end up the greatest safety ever. That's worth a few busts right there.

Sailskipper
That is a little scary... If we cant pick better then that in teh first round then maybe we should get a new personel department. that is just atrocious.
ptimeskins-11
I know you guys know Tim Biakabutuka was a bust, But he killed the Redskins every game he played against us. Correct me if I'm wrong, But didn't he have over 100yds in the 1st quarter, Then hardly played the rest of the game. We were down 21-0 at after the 1st quatrter but Brad Johnson lead us back to victory.

Brother Redskin
OK to build on Om's point a bit, yes it seems as though we had some bad picks over the years but so do all teams. to prove that point I've compiled the first round draft history of some teams that are generally considered well run franchises, it shows from 1991 to now. check out how the steelers, pats and eagles have done in the first round and hopefully it sets your mind at ease. pittsburgh steelers year player position school 1991 Huey Richardson (15) LB Florida 1992 Leon Searcy (11) OT Miami 1993 Deon Figures (23) CB Colorado 1994 Charles Johnson (17) WR Colorado 1995 Mark Bruener (27) TE Washington 1996 Jamain Stephens (29) OT North Carolina A&T 1997 Chad Scott (24) CB Maryland 1998 Alan Faneca (26) OG Louisiana State 1999 Troy Edwards (13) WR Louisiana Tech 2000 Plaxico Burress (8) WR Michigan State 2001 Casey Hampton (19) NT Texas 2002 Kendall Simmons (30) OG Auburn 2003 Troy Polamalu (16) S USC 2004 Ben Roethlisberger QB Miami (Ohio) New England Patriots 1991 Pat Harlow Southern California T Leonard Russell Arizona State RB 1992 Eugene Chung Virginia Tech T 1993 Drew Bledsoe Washington State QB 1994 Willie McGinest Southern California DE 1995 Ty Law Michigan DB 1996 Terry Glenn Ohio State WR 1997 Chris Canty Kansas State DB 1998 1 18 Robert Edwards RB Georgia 1999 1 17 Damien Woody G Boston College 1999 1 28 Andy Katzenmoyer MLB Ohio State 2000 no first 2 (46) Adrian Klemm OT Hawaii 2001 1 (6) Richard Seymour DL GEORGIA 2002 21 Dan Graham TE Colorado 2003 13 Ty Warren DT Texas A&M 2004 1 21 Vince Wilfork DT Miami 2004 1 32 Ben Watson TE Georgia 2005 32 Logan Mankins / G Philly Eagles Sel# Player Pos.
