Teams I think will flop next season

1. New England. I think they got a little too ****y this offseason and let too many peices get away. Losing Vinateri was the biggest mistake of the offseason.

2. Atlanta. The failure to once again surround Vick with decent receivers and a decent line will catch up to them again.

3. Philadelphia. Philly wont reach their potential again until they get a guy who can pound the ball. They have a very stout defense but their offense lacks balance and fire power.

Disagree strongly with your picks.

All 3 teams have All Pro quarterbacks.

It is VERY rare that an all-pro QB watches the playoffs on TV. Unless Vick, Brady, or McNabb get injured, I say all three of these teams are playoff bound. :2cents:

I don't think Philly will flop, but I do think they'll take more than one offseason to recover from last year.

I don't think NE will flop, but mostly because the rest of the Division is bad. Miami may challenge them if they get their ducks in a row this year, though.

I think this year's duck with be the Chargers, but it's not too much of a shock, considering they weren't a playoff team last year.

Vick and the Falcons didn't make the Playoffs last year .

And he wasn't an All-Pro QB  look at his stats.

He was voted in the Pro Bowl because of his popularity not his stats :2cents:

I agree, maybe not as much with ATL but I believe they're D has improved. They had a lot of LB injuries last year, getting Hartwell back will help. John Abraham helps a lot. DeAngelo Hall is an emerging star. Basically, to me, they have one thing left to do. Sign Grady Jackson. If they get that big boy (he should almost count as 2 rosters spots, really) to put next to Rod Coleman, JA and Kerney, wow, that's a line that can stuff the run and really, really get after the passer. With their running game, if their D comes around they can be dangerous.

Edit: I forgot Lawyer Milloy. Safety was probably the weakest position on the that team last year. Again, if the pick double wide, their D's gonna be pretty damn good, I think.

I just think teams have figured out Andy Reid. Teams just let them pass now. If Philly mixed in the run a little more with a good running back, they would be among the favorites in the NFC east. I mention the Patriots because of their knack for playing in close games. They have never been a team who blows people out, so losing Vinateri will be huge. All those 45+ yard kicks he makes to send it into overtime or win by one point wont be there anymore. I think a great kicker like that is extremely under rated. I mean if you think about it, if we would have had him last season we probably would have had homefield throughout the playoffs.

The problem is Buckhalter's injured every damn year. Westbrook couldn't make it through the season even with them passing every down. They need a back or two that'll let them run the ball. I think in a lot of ways Andy was calling plays based on his personnel. He's not always pass happy like that. Remember the year McNabb broke his ankle? They rode Duce Staley to the NFC championship game that year, the problem is, the don't have anyone who even close to be able to give the type of running game they've been lacking since Duce left. Well, they do (Buckhalter), he just never makes it out of training camp in tact.

I'd take the Eagles off that list. A healthy McNabb and the Eagles are basically the same team they were before last years debacle. TO didn't mean a damn thing to that team as they enjoyed the same regular season success without him (two 12-4 seasons and one 11-5) and didn't even have him on the field during their playoff run where they reached the superbowl. This could be a true case of addition by subtraction. I think the Eagles will finish 2nd in the NFC East behind us.

The bust this season IMO will be the Cowboys. They've are getting all the hype but they got a lot of it last year too. Remember all the Julia Jones is going to be a 1500+ yard rusher talk? Garbage.

Other teams that will struggle are the Vikings, Cardinals, and Chargers IMO.

The rest of the NFC East was pretty gosh-darn poo poo during that time, too, which helped Philly.

I do think Dallas will take a step back, though.

I think the Packers are fairly well done, whether Farve resigns or not. I think the big free agency gainer teams (other than the Skins) were the Browns and the Texans, as well as the Vikings. I think if the Vikings can find two reliable receivers, the bust talk about them is premature. I definitely agree that the Patriots have not improved their position from last year ... so there only hope is that the Dolphins flop ... but I think the Dolphins made the same smart move the Skins did by adding Capers and Mularkey to their assistant head coaching staff.:2cents:

The Vikings are going to be a huge flop. I'm surprised by the record they were able to get themselves last year. That's only because they played one of the weakest schedules in the NFL. The only decent team they beat was the Giants- and that was because the Giants Special Teams let up 21 points or something rediculous.

They find themselves with a new head coach, an unproven RB, and an aging QB.

Flop City!

I dunno about all this ragging on the Vikings. I think the term "flop" can only really apply when the expectations are set high, and I don't see why any expectations on the Vikings should be through the roof. I think if they can put last season and all the sex boat drama behind them, they can start to put something together for the future, maybe not as a playoff team next year, but atleast be competitive. Although I agree that Brad Johnson more than likely ain't gonna be a good enough answer as QB for too long. I think biggest flops next year will be the Chiefs and Chargers. Losing Saunders will certainly have an impact on the Chiefs (although I'm not sure who's taking his place, it could be someone who can run a similiar system), and Rivers really has big shoes to fill. Teams that won't be "flops" but fall in power rankings a bit by midseason I think- Colts and Steelers. Both teams will obviously still be very competitive, but I think good defenses across the league are starting to figure out how to effectively slow down Manning, and losing EJ could catch up to them at some point. It just seems like their best shot at a Super Bowl was last year, and seeing the way they got rocked by San Diego before the playoffs and then flat out out-muscled by the Steelers in the playoffs, they've just been exposed as kind of a soft offensive team, not really capable of playing "smash mouth." Steelers proved last season how badly they depend on Big Ben, and without him their offense relied on Randle El and trick plays or having Bettis carry the game, but now that they're both gone and the Steelers don't have any running backs who have proven they can stay healthy, I think offensively they could struggle a bit.

Giants?

They have all their starting offense coming back and they are improving their defense. Where is there going to be a drop off? And they may improve their defense even further in the next couple of days and via the draft. I just don't see it. And it isn't just because I'm a Giants fan but that is part of it.

Because Tiki's getting old? Not saying I believe they'll flop but just playing devil's advocate, an injury to Tiki would murder your offense.

Lot's of fortune in the record last year. Eli is a fraud. Tough schedule. Burress is a crybaby waiting to tear the team apart.

6-10.

Call me crazy, but the Giants schedule doesn't look that hard next year, although they do have an even earlier bye than they did last year, and I'm not sure Coughlin will be able to rally the team down the stretch as well as Gibbs did for us. Outside of the NFC East, they get Indy, Tampa, and Chicago at home with their bye to prepare for the Skins at home. The only real tough part to me looks to be at the end, with the last five games (3 of which are NFC East), although 3 of those even are at home. I'm not sure about calling Eli a "fraud," however he certainly has some substantial maturing left to do, and I would agree that the Giants had some lucky breaks last year schedule-wise (9 home games?), but I'm still not sure they'll flop- 6-10 seems a little harsh, I think on paper and barring any injuries to Tiki (who carried them last year) they could still be contenders for the division.
