Homicide Bomber Kills 9 in Tel Aviv

Monday , April 17, 2006

TEL AVIV, Israel — A Palestinian homicide bomber blew himself up outside a sandwich shop in a busy commercial area near the central bus station in Tel Aviv on Monday, killing nine other people and wounding at least 60.

Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack in a phone call to FOX News. The group, which identified the bomber as Sami Salim Mohammed Hamada, 21, from the West Bank village of Arakeh.

The attack, which came during the Passover holiday, was the first in Israel since the Hamas militant group took over the Palestinian government 2 1/2 weeks ago. It was the deadliest Palestinian attack in more than a year.

The leaders of Hamas, which has largely observed a cease-fire since February 2005, called the attack a legitimate response to Israeli "aggression."

Israel said even though Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility, it held Hamas ultimately responsible and would respond "as necessary."

"We shall, of course, continue to use all means at our disposal to prevent every other attempt," Israeli Prime Minister-designate Ehud Olmert said.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There will never, EVER, be peace in the Middle East. Hamas, once again, confirms it is still a terrorist organization. They are about to feel the wrath of Israel, again. I hope this time Israel turns it up 100 fold.

And so now, since this was a Palistinian citizen, Israel can hold the palestinian government accountable
Not only that but Hamas defended it! How can anyone argue the government shouldn't be held accountable if they rush to defend an act of terrorism?

of course a homicide bomber is more accurate description!

"suicide" meaning that someone kills themselves- "homicide" meaning that someone murders another...

just like the media calls our enemies "milititants" "extremists" and "guerillas" rather than "terrorists" "murderers" or "foreign fighters"

I have to disagree with that. The distinction between a bomber that just kills others (homocide) and a suicide bomber is that he intends to, and does, die in the process.

No, I was talking about "Homocide bomber" is a more accurate description.

...or is that what you're disagreeing with?

So you would call a person that just blows themselves up a suicide bomber? I think most would just say he killed himself - after all no one says "suicide shooter" or "suicide gunman" when someone goes and kills themselves with a hand gun. You do however hear homocidal gunman when they kill others. This is why I think the term suicide bomber was coined - because there is a major difference between those that aim to kill themselves and others at the same time, and those that simply want to blow others up.

How about homicidal suicide bomber?

Lets be honest, were arguing over semantics. Either phrase will work. He killed himself, making it a suicide. Then again, he did it with intention of killing others, making it a homicide . . .

ah well . . . argue away . . . . :D

Nice, predictable little terrorists. I expect bombing to start soon

You and I know it won't. It'll be some little targeted affair and it will go back to how it was yesterday.

Thing is, Israel has its own death-wish crowd and it is also hamstrung (to a small degree) by world opinion.

To me, this defense of the murder of 9 (or was the bomber one of the 9?) by the 'government' of Palestine should be the cause for a declaration of war.

Give the damn Palies a state and let's have at it. This ****footing around with them is ridiculous. They'll never stop. They ELECTED HAMAS...hello?! Hamas had a higher portion of its electorate than the Nazis did. What happened to Germany once it began hostilities?

Whichever side discontinues attacking the other first, even in retaliation or defense, will win.

:2cents:

I have to disagree. It seems(of course what the media has you believe, and I do believe it anyway) that Israel would not be bombing Palestinians or conducting air raids if the Palestinians would just live in peace with them. But when you have these idiots blowing themselves up to kill Israelis, I don't blame them at all for doing it. Especially now that Hamas has defended the act.

It's suicide when they choose to end their own life. When they choose to kill as many innocent people as possible PLUS themselves, such as with a bomb device, they are definitely HOMICIDE bombers.... they use their bodies as the vehicle for which to delivery the weapon they have chosen to kill others.

Calling them anything other than Homicide bombers is they sign you are a liberal.

Sadly, I know, and you are exactly right.

Why are we so hamstrung by what liberals think, when the course of action for so many things is crystal clear?
