The above site has an excellent breakdown of all the teams and their picks. They are very accurate with their info as well.

Looking at the list and the teams here is what I think COULD happen and that would be if the player we wanted dropped in the draft and what the teams we MIGHT trade with would want as compensation:

1. Denver Broncos - 22nd 1st round

We did business with them last year and they were looking to trade their picks for more in next years draft. If Cromartie were to fall to #22, they may be willing to trade us the pick, but would require our 1st and 2nd round pick in next years draft.

2. Houston Texans - 33rd 2nd round

Charley Casserly of course was once our GM. We could probably get this pick from him for our 1st and 3rd round picks in next years draft. I could see us taking CB Kelly Jennings or LB Demeco Ryans/Thomas Howard with the pick.

I am stricly basing this on the players that we have invited for a workout.. Just my :2cents:

If we can get Cromartie I will be the happiest man alive

I think you can deal your picks only so much and eventually you have to bite the bullet. We bit the bullet with Coles and Arrington to a certain degree... I think its time to Bite the bullet in regards to the draft. We have enough talent to make it to next year and just fill in the some depth with what we do have this year. I think that is why they were so aggressive in FA this year.

So in short :D I hope we don't trade up to the first or earlier in the second and just stand pat with what we have.

Ditto. I think we will get him if he reaches the 2nd round... then its just a matter of who we have to bargain with to trade up. I really hope it doesn't involve next years first rounder, though...

It would be great if he did, but I expect him to be a 1st round pick. I believe that getting another 2nd round pick this year would mean we'd have to trade our 1st next year. When we got Cooley in the 3rd round a couple of years ago, it required us to trade our 2nd round pick in the following years draft.

I completly agree. There will be plenty of quality players around even when its our turn at the 53rd pick. I'm still hoping for Abdul Hodge to fall to us although that is asking him to fall alot.

If Cromartie or Sims (or another TOP linebacker) somehow slip to pick #33 I see this as a great idea and I would without a odubt not mind trading next years first and third at all. That would mean all we are really losing is the third because if we get one of these guys and add someone who can contribute with our second we will be picking at #32 anyhow. I think the extra year is without a doubt worth everything we trade away in the future. The only way we need to make a trader to pick up an extra pick is if someone we really want is there. I am starting to see a lot of this ideas about rading away future picks has a lot of advantages to it and while their are disadvantages i think the positives of the extra year are worth it. The only possible trade partners are teams who really can admit that this year may not be their year therefore their not so reluctant to give away present picks. Hopefully someone worth it falls and we have an opportunity to take a shot at him. I not only am starting to agree with such a strategy I believe that Gibbs and co. see this as good strategy as well and are seriously considering it.

I don't think Denver is a trade possibility as they are getting close to a SB possibly and want to get the players they can get now to improve. Other trade partners that would be possibilities IMO are the packer 49ers and Titans, also probably the raiders.

Nope. Denver is positioning themselves to move up into the top 10. They want one of the QBs. If they dont, they will stay put and get a running back and a DE. Denver will not trade down this year.

To get back into the first round this year, bare minimum a first rounder would have to be involved.

some of you guys dont get it. This years draft is a VERY DEEP draft. Next year will NOT be anything like this year. Therefore, trading away NEXT years picks for picks THIS year seems like a great idea especially because of how deep this draft class is. Besides, with the players we have on our team, we will have like only a couple(if even that much) of holes to fill in next year and we could do that in Free Agency. I think it would be great move if we acquire additional picks this year.

YES. i have been thinking about how amazing this years draft is. last year's was VERY weak compared to this one. especially on the defensive side, which is where we are looking to pick. it would make a lot of sense to me to trade next years first and even second to obtain a pick in the 20s for this year.

finally someone who understands the fact that since this years draft is SO DEEP, the MORE picks we have the better.

I agree totally w/both posts...The Redskins are ahead of the game as far as how they handle the draft and FA...

i dont want to do that. now that i think about it. lets just stick with our picks and have lower ones next year. (hopefully it will be the 32nd pick!)

If the FO and coaching staff think we can go deep into the playoffs, why not trade next years first round pick and something else to move into the first this year? Next years draft class does not look as good as this years, and if we did indeed have the 32nd pick it is not such a big blow to have already traded that pick away in a weak draft year. I say if the team has a guy they really covet, go for it. In Gibbs we trust! :logo:
