DieselKev44
I'm sure similar posts have been made before, but a letter in today's Post prompted me to make one of my own. I've loved the Redskins for 30+ years. I can still cite down and distance of big plays from the 70's. The burgundy and gold has been one of the joys of my life, but I have to admit that my love for the team being eroded season by season because of the cost of attending games. Read this letter in the paper today: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/12/AR2006041202389.html I agree wholeheartedly with the writer. He saw a 470% increase in his ticket prices in 9 years! I am fed up with paying $35 to park for 4 hours. $8 beer?! I am a capitalist and understand supply and demand, but the outrageous increases are changing the game...and not for the better. Fedex is not, and never will be, like RFK was. And it pains me to say that. It's not that the place won't ever rock again, because last season, for a few games, it showed that it can. But it's only for huge games now. Far too many of the fans in the seats are there for just a game or two, because they either can't afford to go to more, or too often, they aren't diehards at all...they simply got the tickets through work because companies are increasingly the only ones capable of paying for tickets. Aside from corporations, I am Snyder's ideal consumer, I would think -- single, six figure income and a longtime diehard -- but he's even pricing me out. I've had it. I still love the Skins, but Snyder won't get my money anymore.

Gusthecat
Nice post, newbie. Its not a nice post, its a suck up post by someone who thinks that if its business it must be okay. Business (the market) has changed the game so that we get different players every year and both owners and players with questionable loyalty. It gives us ticket prices that only the rich can afford and arrogant owners who think the news is just part of the company store. It may be great for business and it may be "market" driven, but don't tell me this is a better product than we had at RFK in the early 90's. It just ain't true.
pissondallas
I agree stop ****ing! It is what it is, to me you cant put a price tag on the experience. Even if the prices were double what they are now it would be worth it to see my team live. I have season tickets and dont make as much as that guy but I am thankful for the oppertunity to go to every game. :point2sky
zoony
Here we go... the Supply & Demand swarm here to save the day! Whaddya say we sweep all of these customer complaints under the rug. After all, it's just supply and demand! A lesser known law of S&D is that the customer has no right to demand better or provide feedback.
tomahawks
Truly, I can only make about one or two games a season. Last year, I got a great seat (row 9 in the 200 section or something like that). It cost me like a $100 bucks. I was looking to get a dream seat this season. My main source for tickets is greatatlantictravel.com, and they used to be resoanble. But because of the price hike and gas price guaging, they're ticket prices are through the roof. It's getting to rich for my blood. ONE GAME IS ENOUGH I SUPPOSE!!! P.S. '87TS, you can pay for my ticket if you got it like that. Danny boy is going to run the faithfuls out of town sooner or later.
MarkB452
I agree with the guy's sentiments. I am on the verge of being priced out too. I already gave up on the stadium parking this year (will try the Morgantown Metro stop) and I don't even want to upgrade to lower level seats any more. I do think the guy's 1997 numbers are wrong though. $440 for a pair for 8 games (there were no preseason games in 1997) comes out to $27.50 per ticket (w/o parking). I don't think any tickets have EVER been that cheap at FedEx. For those who want to say this is a free market, etc. Yes, that's true, but if Snyder continues to alienate his main fan base. Will this ever come back to haunt him or the team we love? I'm just glad he does not run an oil company!
Art
A customer's feedback is with a customer's wallet. I refuse to purchase food or beverage at the stadium because the prices are ridiculous. I don't pout about it being ridiculous and cry about wanting it lower. I bring food, eat before the game, sneak some in, and I'm cool. If enough people actually protested with their wallets, prices would revert. That's what supply and demand dictates. Mewling in the face of great demand that you want it to be less expensive so you can enjoy it too doesn't work. Only once demand falters do the economics change. But, I'm positive homeowners in the D.C. area are going to sell their homes for what they are worth rather than what they are going for because they are so fed up with outrageous price increases they wouldn't pass them along to someone else given the chance? Oh, wait, of course you will. The same people angry at Snyder for seeing where the demand for the product is at, are the same people who, in their own lives, will take EVERY benefit of increased value of their assets. Human nature I suppose, but, the first one of you who sells his house for less than what the market will bear, please tell me, as I'll provide you a forum to stand on a soap box you've earned to yell at Snyder. ttr77
I had tickets 10 rows off the field at the 30 yd. line at RFK. Cost? $40 each. To me, THAT was worth it. And the team still had the money to have a relatively high payroll. Why? Because the owner at that time truly cared about the team more than his bank statement. NewCliche21
Wait a second. From reading the article it says there's no pedestrian access to the games? So I can't just take the Metro? I HAVE to drive/park there? No other options?
Twotoetimmy
SOunds like there are lot of young people on here who are acting a bit high and mighty. Just cause you went on E-Bay to get tickets at $250 for LL, doesn't mean you are part of the solution. If you want to contribute then pay for season tickets in the 400's. Also just cause your grandfather pays for season tickets so you can take some college buddy to the games, doesn't make you a season ticket holder. TheLongshot
I was going to reply to Zoony, but Art pretty much said it all. Sure, you have a right to complain. It doesn't mean that Snyder will do anything about things. In the end, he will do what he thinks is best for the team. The only way we truely vote is with our pocketbooks. If you don't like what is going on, then DON'T PAY FOR IT! Like Art, I don't pay for food in the stadium either. I also don't buy beer. (Why would I pay $8 for crappy beer? Life is too short.) If I'm driving to the stadium, I carpool with other people, which helps cut down on the cost of the parking pass. If I don't do that, I take Metro, which worked out fairly well last year. But, I don't buy season tickets, and probably never will. Going to a couple games a year is enough for me. On most Sundays, you will find me in my basement, watching the game on my 106" projection screen in HD. There, I can have the snacks of my choice, the beer of my choice, and I don't have to wait in line for the bathroom. Course, it doesn't replicate the game experience, but for me, that's just a nice perk that I can do a couple times a year and be happy about it. You don't need it, it's not important. Instead, wait for your product to tank in the marketplace when customers absolutely refuse to pay for it. Nevermind that by listening to customer feedback, you can tweek the marketing of your product to make it a resounding success. That's not important. If your product is selling, you are a great businessman. If it's not, you are a failure. After all, Adam Smith says so. And because he lived in the 18th century, he is the authority on such matters. (p.s. Art... I'm glad you aren't setting fuel prices  ) ...

I'm not any less a Redskins fan than any of you just because I can count the number of games I've been to on my eyes, but it's because I can't afford to go to more. I don't know where you guys get the money. I live in Columbia, both my parents are six-figured, and we still can't afford it. Plus I'm like 50,000th on the waiting list or something like that (Anyone know how to find out my exact number?). Anyway the price are ridiculous, but I'll still be trying to get any ticket that I can get my hands on. I'll take one game every four years over none at all. That's not important. ... I would say the product is a resounding success no? I mean they are the number one revenue generating team in the US and number 2 in the world. If that isn't a resounding success I'm not sure what is. Subsequently Snyder is putting a product on the field that we can all agree is sparing no expense. I'm not saying he doesn't need to listen to customer feedback, certainly he should (see the port-a-john requests and such). That's what I call tweaking, something to make the experience more enjoyable not lowering the prices of beer you don't have to buy or food that you don't have to eat. ttr77
I think the season ticket list is BS anyway. It's too easy to sign up for it. Some teams require a refundable deposit to be placed on the waiting list. When your name comes up, you get your deposit amount taken off your first invoice. If the Skins did this, which undoubtedly would lead to more complaints about their business practices, I bet the list would shrink significantly.
