21KillzCowboys
Hopefully the new prosecutor will dismiss the case. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2406407 Lead prosecutor in Sean Taylor's trial steps aside MIAMI -- The lead prosecutor in the assault case against Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor stepped aside Wednesday after defense lawyers charged that he was using his prominence in the case to promote his moonlighting work as a nightclub disc jockey. Michael Grieco, the assistant state attorney handling the Taylor case, asked to be replaced because "he sees himself becoming the courtroom focus, rather than the individual charged with the criminal offense," said a statement from the office of his boss, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. The move came a few hours after Taylor's attorney Richard Sharpstein said he would seek dismissal of the charges because of "inappropriate and unethical" prosecutorial conduct by Grieco, who had posted news articles about the Taylor case on a Web site that promotes his side business as a DJ in Miami Beach clubs. "It's obvious he's exploiting his job as a prosecutor for private gain," Sharpstein said. "It has clouded his view of justice." After being told of Grieco's departure from the case, Sharpstein said: "Now we look forward to a fair and impartial prosecutor looking at this matter and doing the right thing, which is to dismiss this case." .... RedskinsSuperBowl21
What is the process for replacing a prosecutor? Will it be assigned by the court or the "victims"
Fede
What is the process for replacing a prosecutor? Will it be assigned by the court or the "victims" I think another [a?]DA will just step up and take the case. There is more than one DA in a prosecutors office. Once that person takes this up, it will be dismissed. No way they try this transparent case, only DJGreico would do that.

Fede
this is good news!!!!!!!!!! right? Great news. DJGreico had an ulterior motive to trying this case. No point in another prosecutor losing their reputation over this sinking ship.
Art
this is good news!!!!!!!!!! right? It means the case is in disarray. The new prosecutor will require a continuance. At this point, you can expect the defense to stop agreeing to them so readily .

sacase
Greico was not the DA he is an assistant DA, and you had best belive that the DA knows about this case and gave approval for it to be prosecuted. All this is, is a change of prosecuters that is all it is not being dismissed.
Kansas_SkinsFan
who knows they might bring in some DA who thinks he or she can be tough and continue this case. just a thought.
Beaudry
Or will the new prosecutor insist on trying the case just to save face for the DA's office?

Kansas_SkinsFan
This case just like everyone has said is falling apart and making a joke of the DA office. This should be dismissed.
CurseReversed
I imagine DJ Grieco is a little heated about this and is going to be in the new PA's ear. Lets hope they dont turn this into a vendetta against sharpstein, and catch ST in the middle

Califan007 The Constipated
The lead prosecutor for this case has removed himself from it due to some conflict of interest issues (or appearance of it), and the prosecutor's office had already offered Taylor a plea bargain that would only give him probation before any of this "DJ ESQ" stuff came to light... I'm having a REAL hard time seeing Sean Taylor spending one hour behind bars, nonetheless three years...

Jimbo
I would imagine Sharpstein will object to any further continuance of this case and hopefully Judge Barzee will agree. Changing Asst. DA's after an entire year is bad form. As for dropping the charges, I would think the DA's office wouldn't have bothered replacing Greico if there were any plans for that.
