Jet Ski/SeaDoo question

I am thinking of buying a new jet ski/Seadoo (the sit-down type). I have a 1996 seadoo now, but I want a faster, newer one. Mine goes about 55 mph. I was looking at the Yamaha site, specifically at the new FX Cruiser.

My question is:

Do any of you know what the fastest Personal watercraft is now; and do any of you know how fast this one is?

Thanks!!

Google is your friend.

Yamaha's new GP1300R 2-seater muscle PWC is touted as the fastest and most powerful model in its class.

Naked, unabashed speed. That's what sells 2-seater muscle PWCs. Scooting around on a machine that makes you the absolute lord of the lagoon translates into personal watercraft market share. Last year, Yamaha's GP1200R WaveRunner was at the top of the PWC heap, outselling all the other muscle craft. Those 3- and 4-seater PWCs may be all right for family fun, but hop on Yamaha's new 3-cylinder, 2-stroke GP1300R sizzler, with room for you and one terrified passenger, and you'll leave your family on the dock while you get a well-deserved adrenaline rush.

My brother had a 1200 cc Kawasaki (one person model) back 4-5 years ago and it did around 70mph. Be careful whatever you do, a couple of years ago I watched as the marine police dragged a 14 yr old's body from a river in NJ where he collided with a sailboat at anchor and died on impact.

Peace out.

How much ya thinking about selling the seadoo for... My friends and I were looking into getting a jetski-- But, thinking a one person thing. You know the kind that its easier to kill yourself on.

I am not selling that one. Even though I am tired of it and bored with it, I need something for friends to ride. Riding alone is boring!!

Yeah, that is always terrible. I have been riding a seadoo since '96. You are right, it is very dangerous! You have to learn to look over your shoulder EVERY time BEFORE you turn. Also, know the area you are in and know the traffic that goes through.

I firmly believe that kids should not be allowed to operate these things until they are atleast 16 years old. Even that is very young.

I have a '98 Yamaha Wave Raider and I'm usually the fastest one on the water. I'm topping out at 65 mph. Not bad considering my size (6'4" 250lbs)

Yeah, 65 is good. I remember seadoo and yamaha had some out that were pushing 75mph!!! That is what I'm looking for. I want speed. Mine goes about 55mph and it just isn't fast enough anymore.

Also, mine is a big, three seater type. I don't have the three person seat, that was optional. But it is so heavy that I can't jump too high. The highest I ever got out of the water was about 5 or 6 feet, but that was a sick wave off a HUGE boat! I normally get about 1 or 2 feet out of the water. I need something lighter and faster.

sumodat, think about a 4 stroke pwc. 2 strokes motors only burn about 33% of their fuel and spew the rest into the water and air. you may give up some top end but the torque of the bottom end and midrange should make up for it. make the responsible choice

Sumo. Stay with the Seadoo. I had an SPX and that thing was awesome in speed, handling and maintenance wise. But, I will say that the rest of the industry has caught up with Bomardier in regards to performance, especially Yamaha. Again, I have driven almost every manufacturer out there, but still prefer the Seadoo. :2cents:

Can anyone provide any information on any place/sites where I might buy a used personal watercraft of this nature? I'm in the Northern Virginia area and am looking into getting one I can ride with my kids.

Thanks in advance.

I could only find one review for it but it did mention top speed:

You hear people talking about 65 miles per hour. I got news for you, on a glassy lake, throttle wide open you will go much faster than that. I have video to prove it. It is absolutely the best major purchase (besides our home) that I have ever made.

Go to the store and grab 'Boat Trader' magazine. It will give you quite a list of people in your area selling boats and jet skis, pictures included. I listed my boat in the 'trader' and the first person that looked at it bought it. see if boattrader.com exist also.
