hokie4redskins
I'm surprised he didn't call this guy an idiot. The emailer makes an interesting point though. I wasn't aware we play the Giants and Eagles after their byes. BE WARY OF THE BYES. From Ben Sank of Bethesda, Md.: "Why doesn't the NFL coordinate bye weeks so that after a bye each team plays one of the other teams that had a bye? Having a week off prior to a game is clearly an advantage. This seems like an easy way to make the schedule more fair. This bothers me because the Redskins have to play two division rivals, Philadelphia (Nov. 12) and the Giants (Oct. 8), after their byes." Good thought. I hope someone at 280 Park Avenue is reading this. And a blurb about Ramsey. STOP THINKING OF PATRICK RAMSEY AS A FIRST-ROUNDER. From Robert of Palm City, Fla.: "Granted Chad Pennington is a question mark, but with Chad and Patrick Ramsey on the Jets' roster, why would they take another first-round quarterback? Is Matt Leinart that much of a lock that they would really trade up to get another QB? That seems rather ridiculous." The Jets gave Washington a sixth-round pick for Ramsey, so I don't consider him a first-rounder anymore. He was, but now he's just a guy with some promise one team gave up on. Pennington has had two significant shoulder surgeries in the last 14 months. If you're the Jets, you hope you're not in draft position to get a big-time quarterback for a long time after this. Do you want to let a very good QB prospect, whichever of the three that might be, pass? Maybe you do, but if so, you'd better have confidence in new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer's ability to mold Ramsey or Pennington or both into great players. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/peter_king/04/11/mailbag/1.html

darrell1106
Reading Redskins.com article on the draft, we also received a 6th rounder for Rod Gardner of all people. So the trade for Ramsey was simply a give-away which is definitley synonymous to hokie4redskins' point:mad:
Riggo#44
So they have 3 6's? Sweeet. Who says we waste draft picks? There is some real value in the 6th round of the draft. When are people going to realize Ramsey was nothing more the Jay Schroeder sans the ego? And, Gibbs is the one who decided he couldn't play for him. I would like to think a HOF Coach knows more about his players than some fat, self-proclaimed Starbucks afficinado.
Thirtyfive2seven
I'm more worried about Filthdelphia this year. I think with a healthy roster and no more TO they'll be good. An extra week to gameplan for us hurts
Loxley
A very good point on the bye week scheduling. Not much we can do about it now though.

The Evil Genius
The Skins were 1-1 last year in playing teams coming off of a BYE week. They played the two games, coincidentally, in back to back weeks. Lost to KC, Beat the 49ers.

Peregrine
As long as you dont have to face too many teams coming off a bye, its all fair, because each team gets their own. Interesting idea though.
AzSkinsFan63
The Cowboys play us at FedEx following our bye week We get three home games in a row. we get Dallas at home after our bye.. But....we play 3 teams at their house coming off their bye week..Colts, Eagles and Giants..(2 division opponents). Kind of washes out that 3 game stretch at home doesn't it? Dude in Bethesda has a point!
Brianbien83
I think it also depends on what these teams do historically after their bye weeks. If the Eagles are 0-10 in the last 10 years in games after the bye, then I don't see it as much of a disadvantage to play them after a bye. (I don't know the actual stat, but hypothetically) Also, for teams who's byes are early in the season, it might actually hurt them, both in the short and long term. Early in the season, teams are getting a feel for how all the players work together. If the bye in the 4th week does anything, it will be to hurt that cohesiveness. Obviously, we know what an early bye does in the long run...
Ellis
I say leave the BYE WEEKS alone. It makes for a more exciting game.
