fuji869
Does anyone remember the Washington Federals of the USFL? I don't know how well the played but in the USFL's 3rd and final season I think they became the Orlando Renegades.
stwasm
Yeah, I remember them. We selected running back Craig James out of SMU, but he kept getting hurt and the team was bad. I think they won a grand total of five games during their two years in Washington. In their second season, they opened against an expansion team, promptly got blasted by something like 52-17, prompting their owner to say something to the effect of "trained gerbils" being more competent than them. RonJeremy
I remember them...they were HORRIBLE. My dad took me to a game once...RFK was virtually empty....there was only one vendor open in the whole stadium. Our tickets (which were free) were in the end zone. But since NO ONE was there they let us move to the 50 yard line behind the Federals bench...about 1/2 way up. Best seats I ever had for a game at RFK...shame it was for the Federals.
Mark Moseley
Yeah,I remember the Federals I was a big fan & football in the spring was a great thing. But they weren't very good.I have a Washington Federals T-shirt I oredered from http://Throwbackmax.com/ When The USFL switched to a fall season it was the kiss of death. They couldn't compete head to head w/ the NFL. The USFL sued the NFL for violotion of Anti-trust laws They won the case,But the judge awarded the USFL $1:laugh:
skinsfan44
Yeah, I remember the Federals. They were a pathetic team. I went to their very first game at RFK against the Chicago Blitz. The best part of the game was not the game itself, but getting to see George Allen again, who was the Blitz head coach.

Thanos
Man, I went to a game(giveaway tix). That place was so empty you could have had a threesome in the stands and nobody would have cared. It was that bad.I liked the idea of the USFL,but DC's team was beyond horrid and we were spolied by the Skins and expected better. mjah
Their fate was sealed the minute they chose Philadelphia Green as a color.
Stophovr6
Gross. Their uniforms look like an amalgamation of Old Seahawks, Eagles, Cowboys(star on sleeve in one of the pics), and the US Postal service uniforms.
Thanos
I was a sad situation. They got zero coverage from the DC media after the novelty wore off.
