.Guy.
im really pissed right now. i need to vent. for all my fellow 360 owners or potential owners, beware. well yeah, i got my xbox right after launch. first 360 kept freezing. sent it in to microsoft. they sent it back and it kept freezing. this was the second box. wtf is that? so then i sent back again. so finally, it worked fine for about 3 months. so today, the crapbox finally died on me. the hard drive has stopped working. called MS and they tell me this has never happened. BS! so i gotta send my 360 AGAIN for them to verify that HDD is ******. man what a *****. so, if ur gonna get a 360, please wait atleast 5+ months. let them fix the bugs. and to those people have had no problems, how i envy you. man i cant stand this **** anymore. screw microsoft and thier second rate products. so, in all watch out. 360 is a POS. well atleast in my expirience and many of friends. and best buy...everytime i go thier, it has the red lights of death. what a pos! 6. Major Harris
man, that sucks. w/ the prices, and now this story, and all the threads about it, i may change my mind and stick w/ nintendo after all.
kevinklein
That sucks, man. That piece of equiptment is far too expensive to have any faults. Apparently the graphics and gameplay don't, but the system in itself is unreliable. I hope everything works out for you and that you won't have to spend another dime. .Guy.
thanks man. ill make sure not too spend an extra dime. atleast the first time i sent it in, i got an extra hard drive, which i sold for a nifty little profit. but other than that, i have been nothing other than dissapointed. i was playing oblivion...had 20 hours of game play...and now its all gone becuase the HDD got facked. man that sucks the most...what a great game n i have to start over. and major, if i can help save one person from experiencing the same sh_t as me, i have been successful in this thread. and btw tap, your pic doesnt work. TheREALJBird
Every system is gonna have bugs when it's released....as tempting as it might be to wait for the 2nd wave of PS3's, I don't think I can, i'll get one of the first's and deal with it accordingly

But hopefully you wont experience any problems with yours man... best of luck w/ yours...
JeffSchmeff
You are always going to hear more from the complainers than the satisfied customers. Sorry they crapped out on you, but from what I've read the rate of failures is consistent with any launch. I have a PS2 from launch day and it's still kickin'. There was talk about PS2s crapping out when they launched way back when. :2cents:

My brothers broke down before Christmas and they fixed the problem pronto. Companies are not perfect. Sorry you got stuck. But keep in mind, it is just a video game system. It is not like your refrigerator went up and spoiled all your food or something.
Xameil
This was one of the reasons Sony keeps pushing back I believe. That, and they want to make sure they have enough stock. Sony had it's probalem with the PS1. However, it happened in the second and third wave of systems. The CD-Rom started to warp, so people had to play their system upside down. Since then, Sony has gotten a tad smarter with it's systems and making sure there are no major bugs. BTW, I've also heard of people having problems with the 360, this is pronanly why I haven't bought one yet, and may just wait for the PS3 since I already have a bunch of games I can play on it. stevenaa
I think heat can be an issue if you keep your console in an entertainment system. Atleast with the early units.
bpoch
Sorry to hear about your problems. I bought a 360 on launch day and have an no problems at all with it. I also have 20 close gaming buddies that also bought one at launch and they've had no problems either.
CrypticVillain
People, wait one year before you by a system,(if you do not want anyproblems), if you really really want the system you get the system but get the protection plan on that joint. Liike with my Dreamcast, I got that joint the day it came out it messed up bout 3 hours later when I was playing NFL2K <---- that was a classic.. Leonard Washington
that sucks. it seems strange the hdd failed though. the hdd should be one of the most reliable and tested technologies in the whole system. good luck man.
RAC
I've read the rate of failures is consistent with any launch. That's what Microsoft claims, but it's definitely much higher than past console launches. I'm 2 for 2 on busted 360s myself. It sucks, but they've been good about getting one back to you relatively quickly when you send it in for repair. That's the risk you take if you want to play these games as soon as they are available.
Johnny Punani2
This type of thing is normal with a new console. However, I think it is worse then normal because Microsoft rushed the Xbox360 out to have the edge on the PS3. Doesn't matter for me anyway. I have a HDTV with 1080i and two HDMI ports so I'm waiting for the PS3 because it is more geared to HD television and the pic quality should be incredible. Not so strange as you may think.... When I got my original X-Box, I was soooo excited. Came home and hooked it up, turned it on and it worked fine....for about a minute. Next thing I know there is an error message popping up about the hard drive being fried. I was so pissed. Had to take it back and intially had to go through all this crap with Microsoft. I eventually was just able to get a new one. That and I had my DVR sat. receiver for less than a year and the HDD crapped out. Man, that pissed me off more than the X-Box. It seems to me that in my experience, the hdd is the FIRST thing to fail!

Sony did the rush out once before, and got burned. I think they learned from that which is why it's taking so long now.
The 12th Commandment
I'm kinda liking my old X box more and more. It works fine, and the games are starting to become really cheap. Maybe I'll upgrade in a year or so when they have this crap figured out.
APBT
I've had my 360 since 23/DEC/05 and it hasn't laid down yet. I agree with the guy who says get the protection plan. I got that plan pronto. I also have an extra 360 sitting here and if you put two boxes together it makes a perfect circle. The PS3 will have the same graphical capabilities as the 360. At one time Sony were pushing for 1080p, but that is a no go due to the fact that there are only a hand full of Televisions out with that capability and they would lose too much money. With that said the PS3 will only use 720p, because you will not get performance out of 1080i. 1080i is for eye candy and still frames or anything with a frame rate below 20 fps (Discovery HD). Games would suck at that frame rate.
