rvan1
With all the discussion about the 10 ten corners, and Deuce v. Clinton, I wanted to see where everybody put Clinton Portis in their opinion of the best running back in the league. Keep in mind my list includes everything RBs bring to the table, including blocking and pass catching. I'm particularly interested in comparing where fans of other teams put CP versus Redskins fans, as I think we'll generally rank him a little high, and other fans will prolly rank him a little low. Also, if you'd like, I'd appreciate a reason as to why you ranked CP higher/lower than Tiki Barber, as there seems to be a big time debate to who is better. Heres my list: 1. Shaun Alexander 2. LaDainian Tomlinson 3. Larry Johnson 4. Clinton Portis 5. Tiki Barber 6. Edgerrin James (Edit: forgot him by accident...) 7. Corey Dillon (2nd Edit) 8. DeShaun Foster 9. Carnell Williams 10. Warrick Dunn
Long n Left
April fool's day was three days ago. Any list of top ten RB's that doesn't include Edgerrin James is a joke.

revallenjr
Alexander does not catch enough passes, so I would give the nod to L.T. As far as best runner, Larry Johnson even looks better than Alexander.
Sailskipper
My list 1. Shaun Alexander 2. Larry Johnson 3. LT 4. CP 5. Eddgerin James 6. Tiki Barber 7. Duece McAllister (When he isnt injured) 8. Corey Dillon is no good either. Neither of them should be on the list. 1. Larry Johnson - Now I know people are going to disagree with me here but I think this upcoming year Larry will be the best back in the league. Mark my words. 2. Shaun Alexander 3. LaDainian Tomlinson 4. Clinton Portis 5. Tiki Barber 6. Edgerrin James 7. DeShaun Foster 8. Rudi Johnson 9. Carnell Williams 10. ouvan59
I love Clinton Portis and wouldn't trade him for Barber because of age but Barber should top 3 IMO. The guy has nearly 4,500 yards combined in the last two years.
matt2190
1. Alexander 2. LT 3. Tiki He was a Pro Bowler & 3rd in MVP voting for the league Portis did not get one vote. 4. Larry Johnson 5. James 6. Portis 7. Dunn 8. Fred Taylor 9. Martin 10.Dillon PERFECT
jnhay
Shaun Alexander is not the top RB, LT is. I'd put Alexander at 4 or 5.
inevitable
I'm going to be interested to see how Larry Johnson does w/o Al Saunders doing the offense over there now. Conversely, I'm equally interested to see how CP is going to do WITH Al Saunders here. I reserve judgement on LJ's position until after this season, when we see how he does with ol' Herm Edwards at the helm.
coldpacker
Portis in FRONT of Tiki?? I know we should hate them but that is no way what-so-ever objective... homer. I hate to say it but at this point of their careers, if i was trying ot build a team around the running game, i'd pick Tiki in a heart beat. He has GREAT vision, he can catch out the backfield, he probably doesn't pass block as well as CP does but Tiki's running game will compinsate for that loss. Clinton could play his quality backup though =)
inevitable
1. Alexander2. LT 3. Tiki He was a Pro Bowler & 3rd in MVP voting for the league Portis did not get one vote. 4. Larry Johnson 5. James 6. Portis 7. Dunn 8. Fred Taylor 9. Martin 10.Dillon PERFECT You're talking about one year buddy. Let's compare lifetime statistics. Portis has 5930 yards in 4 seasons. Your boy Tiki has 8787 in 9. Portis averages 1483 yards per season. Your boy Tiki, 976. Let's see if he can produce for more then one or two years before you put him on top of any list of RB's. If we're only going to go by arbitrary acheivements, I don't recall Tiki Barber winning offensive rookie of the year, do you? Naw, I didn't think so. flippo07
Anyone who has Aleaxander over LT is smoking something.... LT is an everydown back that can catch and throw unlike alexander... IMO alexander is an above avg back with an amazing offensive line... here is my list: 1 - LT 2 - L. Johnson 3 - Alexander 4 - Portis 5 - E. James 6 - T. Barber - His last 2 years have been great but his first 5 were way below avg. lets not forget his fumbling problems.... 7 - W. Dunn - the most underated RB in football 8 - Rudi Johnson 9 - Carnell Williams - up and coming 10 - Any of these backs could be here - Curtis Martin (getting old), Foster (injury prone), Taylor (injury prone), Ronnie Brown, Cory Dillon (getting old and injury prone), Willie Parker... ScottnSharrer
1. Shaun Alexander 2. LJ 3. LT 4. Clinton Portis 5. EG (would be top 3 if it weren't for injuries he has suffered) 6. Tiki Barber 7. Priest Holmes 8. Cadillac Williams 9. Duece McAllister 10. Stephan Jackson

matt2190
Shaun Alexander is not the top RB, LT is. I'd put Alexander at 4 or 5. Alexander was MVP of the league. If you put him at 4 or 5 you are crazy. LJ had one great half of a season. How do we know that if he played a full season he might have gotten tired and reduced his production. Let him do it for one full season at least before making him number 1.

Are you serious you want to compare stats from ten years ago. Hey why don't we go back to pop warner football I'm sure Clinton was better then too but today they dont compare. Clinton Portis played better on the Broncos than on the skins. Do you want to compare where they were or where they are now. Portis on the Skins is just not as good. redskin48
You have all lost your minds.......Clinton should be at number one look at what he has done with what he has to work with. He almost completly changed his running style and still put up big numbers. If he had stade with the broncos he would have broken some all time records. It will get better a lot better I want to see this thread again at the end of 06.
