I dont keep up with college football much at all so im sorry if im a little slow to notice this. But I never known Sean Taylor was widely known as the best one of the best defensive backs to ever play college football. Pretty Impressive especially since you got Charles Woodson, Ed Reed, Dieon Sanders, ect...

His safety ranking is so off too. 24?right...

His ranking at CBS is his defensive backs ranking, which includes corners. Taylor is the best cover safety in the NFL. He's the only safety you'd even contemplate man coverage against very good receivers, though, not probably a legitimate No. 1 receiver. He's got tremendous range and takes away chunks of the field for attack against us. The flaws in his game are that he's a bit too aggressive and still has the athletic arrogance that can get him into trouble. No safety has his range or impact when it comes to taking things away from an offense. Teams simply don't test him like most safeties get tested. He needs to become more of a playmaker, like Reed, but, he's already the most complete safety in the game. He has all the strengths of the better strong safeties, and he's as good as there is at free. That combination will make him an All Pro for years to come.

This is the same ranking scheme that puts Shawn Springs at 96 - behind such greats as Anthony Henry and Jason David . Walt harris is next at 118 AA is 128 Pierson Prioleau is 134 Ade Jimoh 162 and Carlos Rogers 187. I know these numbers are influenced by injury time to an extent but still with these rankings not bad for a team that ranked 9th against the pass in terms of yardage.

That may be a little too far to say hes the BEST cover safety. He can definetly cover like hell, but his forte is hitting. Ed Reed probably is better in coverage as of now, but the possibilties are unlimited with Taylors Talent.

Bobby Bowden who is about 165 years old and has been coaching forever said that Sean Taylor was the best defensive player he's ever seen on a football field. The guy has coached Deion Sanders, Derrick Brooks, coached against Warren Sapp, Ray Lewis, etc. All Hall of Fame guys. That's really all you need to know about Sean Taylor if you've never seen him play.

365-pound bench press … 34½-inch vertical jump.

The guy is a stud. Pure and simple. Gregg Williams will make sure to suck out of ST as much talent in his professional career with the skins possible. We are totally blessed to have this man on our defense. As long as ST stays out of prison over his recent charges, keep his mind right, and get into TC with the proper focus, this man is going to continue to be a play-maker.

The article states that he is still imature in his aggressive status. I agree but GW also knows this and trust me he's gonna make sure ST doesnt continue to be imature. ST knows what errors he makes not just mentally but physically. GW lets him know how to get into his players head to makes sure they perform to the best of there ability.

Art, I too believe that ST will be in a lot of Pro-bowl games in the future. Im so excited for the up and coming season to see how they AA and ST mesh together to bring out each others talents.

 :2cents:

Do some of you guys not know anything about college football?

If you watched any college football at the time you would've known how good he was in college.

He almost single handedly beat FSU in his Junior year by pickin off 2 passes and taking one of them back for about a 40 yd. td looking like a running back on the play. Through the rain mud and everything else!

He was a good running back in high school.

His safety rating is not a marker of how good he is, just a statistical analysis of his stats for FF. He has significantly diminished stats because both WRs and QBs are scared to death of him. No one comes near him so how is he suppossed to rack up stats?

Lol, you beat me to it. Good catch. :applause:

I am a Florida State fan and i watched sean taylor destroy Florida state singlehandedly. As much as i hated him because he was a cane i knew i wanted him on my team because he is going to be unreal...and Art said that he cant cover receivers one on one, i disagree because he covered Randy Moss one on one.
