Will Taylor take to Archuletta?

What's everyone's honest opinion on Archuleta? I've seen him play a couple games here and there and he is a hell of a hitter, but a lot (espn, various news/internet reports) also say that he tends to take poor angles and is a liability in pass coverage. Myself, I think he'll be fine - G. Williams will use him according to his strengths and that will make him that much better. I can almost see him as kind of a Polamalu type player (maybe not quite to that level, but better than your average safety).

When I first saw the thread I thought it read will Taylor take out Archuleta:doh:

Adam is not exactly a iron man and whith Taylor back there flying around I don't think Adam will last the full season:doh:

As for the thread It seemed Taylor and Clark were close freinds and Adam is the reason Clark is gone should be interesting. Sean has enough on his plate now though I think he will handle it like a grown up.

I guess you are partly right, but the Ravens lost some of there o-line last year as well. Rememer? We stole there starting center with Rabach, who helped Lewis gain some of those yards. They replaced Rabach with a rookie, which hurt some.

Rabach was their back up Center and filled in in 04

from someone who knows little to nothing about AA:

During is press conference he seemed rather soft spoken - my actions speak louder than words type of guy....I doubt that he is going to compete with Taylor for the limelight in the secondary. I think Taylor will still be the focal point and AA will be in the background. If Adam had a lightning rod personality, I could see some friction there, but Adam didn't seem like that, so I would imagine that him and Taylor would get along fine.....here's for hoping.....

 It's not like Sean Taylor and Ryan Clark were going out or something. True story, Sean Taylor is gonna knock the hell out of anyone coming over the middle regardless of who's standing next time. With my own two eyes I've seen Taylor miscalculate and level out his own teammate. Because he was in the way.

Wrong, Mike Flynn is their starting center, Rabach only played when he was hurt. Rabach was the primary backup to Flynn, though he also did start at guard a bit. If Fylnn and Rabach were playing, you can bet Rabach was at guard not center.

You know what I think Taylor will get out of all of this? That if he plays well, he can get a loaded contract in a couple years. Hes looking at what AA got, and probobly is drooling. And that is what will inspire him to play some great football.

If Taylor reaches his incentives, his contract will end up more valuabe that AA's , anyways.

We've all heard how close Taylor and Clark were. Theyve been mentioned as being best friends on the team and Taylor has said on several occasions that he looks up to ryan Clark. Hell, even in his 1 on 1 interview he said Clark is his favorite player in the NFL. I was just wondering if you guys think the signing pissed Taylor off. I think Archuletta and Taylor can make a great combo and AA even said in his PC he was looking forward to working with Taylor. I just think Taylor was pissed his best friend was let go when it probably wouldnt have taken much to resign him. :2cents: What do you guys think?

His best friend wasn't let go. Clark wanted to be a starter and he knew he wouldn't be here. It's not like the Steelers gave him that much money, we would've matched it were Clark willing to be the 3rd safety, which he wasn't.

If anything's going to piss off Taylor, it'll be the contract that Archuleta signed.

That's what I was thinking, along with the fact that they just let his boy go. Nothing may happen this year, but next year might be kinda difficult for the good ol' skins and Mr. Taylor.

Nope, Rabach got the job initially because Flynn went down with an injury but played so well that Flynn stayed on the bench when he was healthy. Rabach started all 16 games. Flynn played in 9 and started 5 at RG. Flynn replaced Bennie Anderson as the Ravens starting RG late in the year. Rabach only played one game at guard all year.

Rabach would have been the Ravens starter last year ahead of Flynn if he had stayed.

Agreed!!!

But....he has no leg to stand on, so to speak, because players that have legal troubles are not going get contract upgrades, or at least they shouldn't. Look at Jamal Lewis of the Ravens, he was one of if not the best RB in the NFL 2 years ago, he was looking at a very large contract until he got into some legal trouble. He basically had to take what the Ravens offered this offseason, because no one else even made an offer to him. His contract is like 3 years 26 million, but, in reality its a 1 year 6 million dollar deal. With 10 million dollar base salaries in year 2 and 3, he will never see that money. 6 million is a nice 1 year salary but compared to what Alexander and James got, its chump change.

What I am saying is no team can afford to sign a player long term that could possibly be in jail in 6 months, over something stupid. Taylor has alot of growing up to do before I would offer him 1 penny more. Besides he signed a 7 year deal, with the last year voidable, and this will ony be his 3rd year of that deal.

Not entirely true. Jamal didnt get the big contract because his performance fell off. If he had another 2000 yard season in '05, bet your sweet cheeks he would have gotten paid. BUT, his prison time is probably what affected his poor performance. Remember, he had surgery that he wasnt able to rehab. fully while locked up.

I disagree...because ST knows the huge PAYDAY hes got comin up after his rookie contract expires...especially after becoming the face of the defense now that Lavar is gone. Hes gonna get paid very well.

I think he'll be fine. Mark and Pat were constantly battling for a job and they have been best friends since the day Mark was acquired from Jacksonville. We failed to get Clark resigned so we had to replace him, it's not like we straight up cut the guy. I'm sure Sean and Ryan will stay in touch and continue to be friends, but I don't think it will affect his relationship with Adam.

P.S.- Ryan Clark is my favorite player in the NFL too.

Exactly. This is the year that Sean becomes the best safety in the league hands down. Ed Reed is falling off a lil bit, and in my mind no one else compares to ST.

After he has a monster year Im worried that hes going to be after a huge contract.

As far as playing alongside Archuleta, we will see, Im a huge Clark fan, hated to see him go. Just have to trust Gibbs on this one, hes been right about everyone else we have signed under him so

do grown men spit on each other?Or do they handle it on the field? Taylors a man beast but needs some growing up to do.

Taylor didn't spit on Pittman --who happened to abuse his wife-- he spit after talking smack with Pittman, Pittman thought Taylor was spitting at him. They did handle it on the field.

Sean Taylor doesn't care about the pro bowl...The man wants a Super Bowl...
