Sonny Joe Hog
There always seem to be some excellent NFL prospects who are either overlooked or under-valued by the pro scouts. We've all seen players in our areas who can really play but about whom the general puiblic knows little. With a number of lower round picks this year, the Skins could use our scouting help. If you'll provide them the benefit of your scouting knowledge, all the Redskins management will need to do to find a diamond in the rough is to read this thread. Meanwhile, we can enjoy it. Here are a couple of examples. In the early 80's, I lived in Pittsburgh. At that time, Pitt had some great teams. There was a player on that team who was tremendous but hadn't received proper recognition. I hoped so much that the Skins would draft him - and they did, in the 3rd Round. His name is Russ Grimm. More recently, when I had Maryland Terrapins season tickets, I had the opportunity to see Anquan Boldin play in person a couple of times. From the way he dominated and the skill set he showed, I came to believe that he was the best wide receiver prospect in the year he was drafted. He wasn't rated or drafted very highly, but he has become an excellent NFL receiver. (Luckily, I told my son-in-law that Boldin was the best that year and now he foolishly believes that I'm smart). There are a lot of smart people on this board, from all over the country, who have seen a lot of college games in the last few years. So, tell me (and, hopefully the Skins brain trust) who is available in this draft who is being overlooked and who we can either steal in the later rounds or move up a little to get? Please particpate; I hope this will be a fun thing to do.
Dead Money
Sorry, neither UNCW and Cape Fear Community College have a football program... :whoknows:
jayneal7
I watched this guy named D'Qwell Jackson play LB at MD the last 4 yrs...wow!!! He also had a teamate named Vernon Davis...DOUBLE wow!!! If either ends up on Skins, I'll crap my pants with joy :obvious:
Dracula
I go to UMD and the only players worth drafting are Vernon and Dqwell. Neither of which is probably going to be available by the time the skins pick. If Dqwell somehow slips to the skins, all i can say is nastiness will ensue. Everyone else on the terps is a below average to average college football player. Whoever has been scouting for them the past couple of years needs to be f****** fired. Besides these two players, the rest of the roster is a garbage heap.
mookie0720
I've seen D'Qwell Jackson, Vernon Davis, Antonio Cromartie, Daryl Tapp, Manny Lawson, Mario Williams, Mathias Kiwanuka, and next year's Top OL prospect Jared Gaither play in person. Jared Gaither- future 1st round pick. Josh Portis- best QB Friedgen has ever had. The WR core- most talented MD has ever had. Melvin Alaeze, Frosh DE- future 1st round pick Obviously you don't follow the team that closely.

CPstretch
JMU won the NCAA D1-AA national title in 2004 for football which was kind of cool. most of the guys suck and are undersized, but there is 1 running back who i think could make an NFL team. Maurice Fenner: he's 6'1, 220 and is always breaking long runs when he gets in the game. He splits time with another RB so he doesnt put up huge numbers. He did score 2 TDs in the NCAA title game last year I believe.

But, at 6-0, is he too short for the NFL? Boone definately has prototypical NFL size.

feeshta
I think Matthew Rice from PSU is a pretty decent DE. Nothing spectacular, but he would make a nice depth pickup.

I'm sure it will have an effect on where he is drafted but Anthony Mcfarland is 6ft and Casey Hampton is 6-1. You never know though, I thought Charles Woodson was going to be the better than Deion Sanders.
rvan1
look out for a Carson Newman LB, Tony Robinson. i know youre thinking "Carson Newman? Please." This guy is sick. Recorded 128 tackles in 10 games, runs a 4.56 40. expected to go in 4th-6th round this draft. hes sick.
crank
How about Alan Zemiatis from PSU he is a tall CB that can add depth and cover all the tall WRs the redskins face. I think Matthew Rice from PSU is a pretty decent DE. Nothing spectacular, but he would make a nice depth pickup.
NYSkins1
DJ Shockley got a lot of hype here last season, but he probably won't be drafted high because he was in David Greene's shadow all those years. The Falcons will probably draft him, though...

Mo won't be in this draft class though, thankfully we have him for another year. Just for the record, there are several guys at JMU that will have pro careers, Lezotte will very likely be a first day pick by the time he is a senior, and Corey Davis could very well be a backup lineman for several NFL teams. Don't think IAA means they can't play with the big boys.
