Oldskool
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2368268 Lions give Edwards $8M in guarantees By Michael Smith ESPN.com Defensvie end Kalimba Edwards has re-signed with the Detroit Lions for five years and $20 million, with $8 million in guarantees. Edwards visited the Browns, was to meet with the Falcons, and his agent, Kennard McGuire, had scheduled a trip to Oakland. Edwards decided to return to Detroit after being impressed by new coach Rod Marinelli and defensvie coordinator Donnie Henderson's recruiting efforts. Despite being a part-time player, he moved to the head of the list among free agent defensive ends after Andre Carter went to the Redskins, Trevor Pryce went to the Ravens and Darren Howard went to the Eagles. Edwards, 26, posted seven of his 20 career sacks last season in his role as a situational pass rusher. Detroit drafted him in 2002 out of South Carolina with the third pick of the second round. The Lions, who signed Jon Kitna to a four-year deal Tuesday, have been active in re-signing their players. They reached deals to re-sign wide receiver Eddie Drummond and running back Shawn Bryson in the past couple of days. Michael Smith is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com.
