Cardinels could be sick if they get Davis

The Cardinals are going to have a hard time staying away from a three-receiver, one-tight end, one-running back package now that Edgerrin James is the running back and was very productive as a Colt in that personnel grouping. If Dennis Green gets a tight end like Vernon Davis from Maryland in the draft, watch out everyone. The spread offense in Arizona will be as dangerous as it gets.

Until they stop giving up more than 24 pts a game, I'm not too worried about Arizona, however they are part of the weakest division in football.

What's funnier is... Denny Green... on NFL Network yesterday when interviewed about the James signing... spoke of the impact of the offensive line (a question asked by Eisen).

Green is happy with the offensive line. Apparently, the signed Brown from the Texans and intend on using one of their topic 3 picks on an offensive linemen. And Green thinks their 0-line was banged up last year... but will come back healthy this year and make a difference.

So they might very well pick up Vernon Davis... who, as a TE, IS part of an offensive line.

Whats also funnier, is they picked up Brown from Houston, where the Texans gave up a godzillion sacks. No wonder Texas let the guy go. Now Cardinals wont be able to run block or pass block.

That organization is so sorry. I read that they will be $67 million UNDER the cap in 2007.

if cards make playoffs, dennis green will be coach of the yr............hands down.

Making the playoffs was never a problem for him, winning once he got there was. Of course his last 3 coaching season haven't seen him win more than 6 games. He actually lost more games last year than he did the year before, not exactly progress.

When I went to the Arizona/Skins game... I was speaking with a Cardinals scout in the press box. He told me that the problem in Houston wasn't the talent... apparently the offensive line coach and the offensive coordinator were at odds on how to mesh their philosophies; they were banging heads and hated each other.

He also mentioned that the defensive coordinator in St. Louis (Marmie) had no business coaching in the NFL. He was a laughingstock in NFL circles... completely out of his league and only got the job because Martz owed him a favor from a long-time ago (when he gave Martz a job on his staff).

So that might explain Archuletta's drop in play the past 2 years.

It just goes to show that coaching is more important than raw talent in the NFL. Thank goodness that Dan Snyder seems to have figured that out. :)

Did you know . . .

Arizona had the 8th ranked Defense and 8th Ranked Offense in the NFL?

The first in Passing and last in Running . . .now they have Edgerin James.

LOOK OUT!

Exactly, and James won't be the big disappointment that J.J. Arrington was out there. This team could for once actually start building upon something and with a veteran proven quarterback in Kurt Warner, sounds kinda like us (well at least in that aspect  ). Obviously we all know the crazy talent they have now in their receivers and running back.

I'm interested and for one, would be completely happy to see them win the division, and beat Seattle. :D Maybe that's just me. :silly:

Edge is a proven back, therein lies the difference. JJ Arrington was a 2nd rounder with potential, and I think potential for a rookie running back means "needs a good o-line to start with". This is why I think even if Reggie Bush goes to the Texans, he won't be that explosive his first season. It took LT a while before people started to notice him.

Edge on the other hand is a proven NFL running back. While the Colts o-line is good, he still did make plays on his own as well. If the Cards defense was 8th last year, that makes me think they can be a contender.

Yes, of course, but Arrington was the only 2,000 yard rusher in the NCAA before that draft, and I'd have to say his inability to do anything whatsoever is a disappointment. I think they even reverted to starting Shipp after awhile and there were some articles on nfl.com saying how the coaches thought he didn't have a good attitude, didn't really care etc.

It did take awhile for LT to get noticed, but I think he had double digit scores his rookie year, although obviously you would expect more from him and such than Arrington and Arrington will definately never be that good. Main point, Arrington didn't turn out well, but yes now they have a proven pro-bowl rb who has had over 1500 yds the last two years and they've got the tools to get to the next level.
