bryceb07
Now, don't get me wrong I am so pumped about everyone we have signed and could really care less if we don't get anyone next year ... However since the cap goes up again, will we be able to get more people ? Just a question ....
Mr. S
you forget that contracts get bulkier every year
MrMan978
The cap does not go up in 07 it stays the same I believe.
jwebst1
That's the only thing I don't like..... we come with in about 10 bucks of the cap maximum every season, then have to rely on restructures and holding players hostage to give back money..... The cap will go up to 109 next season, but the last poster is right... a lot of these deals are back-ended and only keep going up..... I love what they have done, but I still wish we would draft some young players at a lower cost then strictly do things through FA.... Some teams have a 500-800k 2nd receiver.... our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd now have huge, huge contracts..... and our 4th receiver was given a 13.5 mill contract last year. skinstzar
One of the marquee players with a big contract will have to move towards the exit. They will probably do something to get rid of Brunnell's number. We are probably going to have to lock up ST somewhere in the near future. Pardon the stupid pun. WallyG3
I have a feeling that Mr. Snyder knows what he's doing...
hailskins26
we will have to restructure some of these big contracts to get under the cap space. that will free up some more room for all of the years. i believe that is why we sign guys to 6 yr deals- so we have room to pro-rate (example: edgerrin james signed 3 yr deal which can't be prorated). It's been already agreed upon. That's why we are able to sign Randal-El and Brandon Lloyd, we've got a lot of wiggle room there in regards to the cap. gfunk76p
Lets face it, Gibbs is no spring chicken. He is trying to win NOW! In a year or 2 we will cut the guys who aren't living up their bill. So in a way we are using $$ to find the weeds in the garden. Ohh and does anyone know how much dead cap space the Skins are lookin at???
jwebst1
And wasn't one of the key points in the CBA cash over cap? Maybe I still don't understand it, but throwing 10 mill bonus money at Archuletta, Randle-El, and Lloyd in about 48 hours can't help that figure.... How much do think Fauria gets? If it's more than Royal, I'll crap myself.
Peregrine
Its a shame the Redskins FO doesnt quite understand it as well as some of the people on these boards. I think its time they took a page out of our book. Cash over the cap is LEAGUE wide, salary cap for 2007 is 109 mill.

TheBeast36
Gibbs is definately aiming for wins right now but i dont see the skins honestly EVER being in cap hell... or even to a lesser degree cap restraint. our players have proven willing to do what it takes to help us with the cap and that is a HUGE reason to why we have money. GoSkins561
One of the biggest factors every year seems to be dead cap space, does any one know where we are going to be with the dead cap number if we had to estimate that number, based on players cut this year? SkinSince87
if we have so much young talent why not give up a 1st round pick for next yr to not have to pay or groom?
