Eagle091
lol, if he shows he's on the downside of his career, then yes. most likely they were impressed with him, so maybe we'll let him stay till he's 31. that's a joke btw.
Pocono
http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/14085012.htm Source: DE Howard joining Eagles By Bob Brookover INQUIRER STAFF WRITER Just as many people expected, the Eagles' first significant move of the free-agent season was signing a player away from the New Orleans Saints. No, they didn't get center LeCharles Bentley, but a league source said that veteran defensive end Darren Howard agreed to a six-year deal with the Eagles late last night after spending the day in Philadelphia. Details, other than the length of the contract, were not immediately available. Gary Wichard, the agent for Howard, would not confirm the agreement but said he was working on a deal with the team. Howard, who spent the day with head coach Andy Reid, defensive coordinator Jim Johnson and new defensive line coach Pete Jenkins, was impressed by what he saw and heard during his visit. Teller
So Howard is going to the Browns? :eaglesuck :jump:  If it's true though, which it appears to be, a nice move by the Iggs. Especially if he can do double duty as a #2 wide receiver.
Pocono
Here are the terms that were agreed to. The Eagles got him cheap. http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/99-03142006-626257.html "The contract includes a $3.5 million signing bonus, roster bonuses of $600,000 this year, $1 million each in 2009 and 2010 and $4 million in 2011 and base salaries of $1 million this year, $2 million in 2007 and 2009, $2.5 million in 2008, $3.5 million in 2010 and $4 million in 2011. Howard will have cap figures of $2.183 million this year, $2.583 million next year, and then $3.083 million in 2008, $3.583 million in 2009, $5.083 million in 2010 and $8.583 million in 2011. In reality, this is either a four-year deal worth $12.6 million or a five-year deal worth $17.1 million. Either way, it averages out to less than $3.5 million per year." Those numbers are very different from what Brookover reported. He wrote that it was a 9.5 mil SB. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said the Eagles have been interested in Howard ever since the New Orleans Saints drafted him in the secind round in 2000. Monday, he officially joined the Eagles after agreeing to a six-year deal worth $30 million. A league source said the signing bonus was for $9.5 million Doesn't matter to me. I love how you have bought into the notion that not "overpaying" is making the Eagles a better team. Finneran and Bentley could have been Eagles. For that matter, Randel-el or Givens or Jurivicous. You got Howard. He stays healthy for you, great. I actually really like the signing. But it's not the cap number that makes it a good signing. Thing is, I've read enough of your posts to realize that you buy into the FO snowjob; that a bargain makes the team better.

Pocono
Does that include Carter? Did they say they're going to use Carter as a DE or a LBer? I've seen it both ways in threads but has the team said he will be a DE or a LBer or a LBer who moves to DE in passing situations? He was a LBer last year....wasn't he? Clearly he will play DE...the best part is he can stand up in addition to dropping in coverage. Outstanding signing. Of all the signings, the best. Westbrook36
And Griffin. By weeks so if you are making the point against Howard, you are making it against Griff, unless your contention is that the few weeks makes him a spry chicken compared to Howard.
