the moves not made

sometimes the moves not made by teams end up being twice as good as ones that are sexy, or media picks. building long term is good in todays nfl cap. talk in 6 months if all the moves made by other teams actually help them win, skins included.

Are you saying this because Philly didn't get Bentley....?

This argument, as an Eagle fan, is all you have right now.

I mean, what else could you say?

I agree. who else is there for the Eagles to sign??? I have been saying for a while that the Eagles we're not going to be dominant anymore in the NFCE, but with all of our acquisitions and the Eagles getting snubbed by the Browns, I wonder if they are even playoff contenders.

I'm one fo the few that very happy that philly didnt break the bank on some of the mediocere players in f.a. If they were such great players, you'd think they'd have been signed long term by their teams long before they were free agants. manage the cap and long term deals are no problem.

you remember, that's where you get young players that develop into long term stars. I know this year it will be thin for the skins, but you build teams through the draft.

Ok, I understand now. Was confused by your "ummm draft?" post. I agree that you should build through the draft and the the sexiest move isn't always the best move but free agency exists for a reason. And that's to sign the players you need who are proven and seasoned in the NFL. Sometimes that means whipping out the checkbook. Something the Eagles haven't done at all this offseason.

As it stands right now I am not happy with the way the Eagles have let this first weekend of FA pass them by. Signging Howard would be the first step towards making things right. And if the Walker rumor holds any water at all I'd like to see how that pans out. Those two moves alone would make me feel a whole hell of a lot better.

Yes the old Philadelphia cap model. Well, with the exception that their own players have to leave to get paid....and they don't pay anybody eles's players....

Managing, Philadelphia style.

I won't jimster. thats pretty weak whiskeypeet. funny how we didnt have to use an transition tag or franchise tags. hmm maybe its because we locked up all our young talent to long contracts before they were close to f.a. and releasing players after thirty is a sound decision because they're most likely on the downside of their career. looks like phillys players are getting paid after all.

Spoken like a fan of a team who's done dick in free agency. ;)

If you say the eagles are all about building a team through the draft why are you guys offering drafts pick for Walker? We all know you need a wide receiver but giving up draft picks goes against what your franchise stands for. Or at least what you think it does.

no matter what though, the Eagles have been a better managed team than us the past 5-6 years. The draft is the way to go in the end (Patriots, Steelers?) I hate siding with the Eagles, but it is the truth, 4 NFC championship games, 1 super bowl appearance, and they could have made a run last season if not for half the team dying.

The only problem is now it seems to be unraveling. Need some receiver overhaul like we just did, and if the Walker rumor is true, that would be a huge help. Looks like the o-line needs help, and granted Bentley wanted to be a Brown, but Hutchinson was available. It was probably smart in the long run to re-sign Brian Westbrook, but now that he got injured, wonder how that is going to turn out.

Either way, the problem now is that the Eagles should open up the bank a bit, especially for a guy like Hutchinson. Probably could have used Will Witherspoon or could use Julian Peterson. Scheme this or that, but when the team is almost at a rebuilding phase now, need to spend some money for once.

Funny, but you were probably excited when you guys got TO, a guy that was let go early by his team. THEY didn't want him. Free agency has its casualties all of the time. Players who are excellent change franchise due to FA every year. Your whining is very unbecoming and your excuses are very transparent.

I dont think the eagles are a good model for the draft In proir years the rezst of the nfc east plane out stunk. The patroits are very good at picking up free agents

You CAN'T buy a team?

Uh.. tell me something, since you are someone who probably hasn't experienced much of any success in life since you are an Iggle fan and everything-- When you draft someone, you do realize that you still have to pay them don't you? Thus BUYING your team?

This lesson is over!
