MARCH 12: REDSKINS SIGN ANTWAAN RANDLE EL

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9297761

Pete Prisco

After trading for Brandon Lloyd Saturday, the Redskins spent big to land Randle El on Sunday. That is a major question mark in my mind. Randle El had 35 catches last year as a No. 2 receiver for the Steelers. Does that warrant a seven-year deal with $12 million in guaranteed money? Please. We know the Redskins are desperate for help to go with Santana Moss, but paying that kind of money for a guy who has never been a top receiver on his team is crazy -- Dan Snyder crazy. There are some Steelers coaches who wonder if he's even ready to be a No. 3 receiver. Remember Az-Zahir Hakim when he left the Rams to sign with the Lions. He was never good enough to be a go-to receiver. Neither is Randle El. The Redskins blew this one.

Clark Judge

The Redskins paid him what? I like this guy, too, but more as a third receiver and a special-teams gamebreaker. So paying him $31 million makes absolutely no sense to me. Of course, I don't understand paying assistant coaches $2 million each, either. But these are the Redskins, and they were determined to beef up their offense now that Al Saunders is in town and after they had time to digest films of the playoffs when the defense carried them. Randle El is versatile. He can return punts. He can make catches. He can throw passes. But he's not a difference maker. If he were Pittsburgh wouldn't have let him walk. Remember, this is the team that three years ago paid Laveranues Coles a $13 million signing bonus -- only to return to sender two years later. He gives Washington depth at the position but little more.

Remember Az-Zahir Hakim when he left the Rams to sign with the Lions. He was never good enough to be a go-to receiver. Neither is Randle El.

Is 12 mil guaranteed over 7 years a big contract? It doesn't really sound like it. Will this contract have a lot of incentives?

Everything is relative to the value of the player. They're saying that he definitely isn't a number one, and that even as a number two he might be questionable.

Keep in mind, the "market" (or at least, the Bears) offered him something like 18 over 6 years. We offered him 31 over 7 (I am not looking up the guaranteed money numbers, and not sure I've even seen anything like that about the Bears offer). That's a pretty good difference.

These guys wrote an article a couple of weeks ago that was on the CBS Sportsline front page for days. If I remember correctly it was entitled "CAP HELL" The entire article was about the Redskins being doomed this year because of their past spending. Now that the Skins proved to be in fine shape they look like bozos! Isn't it amazing these guys get paid to be so wrong? GO Danny GO!!!

Prisco is the same guy who has Randle El ranked right behind TO in an albeit lean year for (FA) recievers questioning whether he can be a #1. If its the Eagles, Giants, or Cowboys he probably loves the move. I mean the Steelers rant eh ball more than anyone last year. He's gonna be featured in a higher profile passing attack. Effe em. :2cents:

Hail to the Redskins

Oh gimme a break...I thought Peter King, would be the 1st to say we blew it on this one. Looks like I was wrong...only a matter of time before he, Lenny & Banks try to rip us up. Let 'em we've had worse said about us by better people.

No Prisco and Judge first start it off with a totally wrong and retarded article.

Then thats when Lenny and Banks come in and write somthing thats so stupid but is what everybody has been saying in the media its to the point where you have heard it so much times you dont care anymore.

Peter Fatass finishes it up with 2 articles. one on these two signing and the other on why he will never vote Art Monk into the Hall Of Fame. Then restating what he said in his previous articles 3 more times...

Then finally...on NFL Countdown

Tom Jackson: AHAHAHhahAHHAHahA! Your right Micheal I think the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl this season since they have our beloved Terrell Owens while the Giants make a hard run but cant make it and the Redskins have a awfull season in resemblance to the 2000 season.

Micheal Irvin, Tom Jackson, Chris Berman: AHhahHAHHaHAahHAHhahAHahaAHAhaA!!!!

Steve Young: ahah.....
