FootballGuy2677
My thoughts on these players... Brandon Lloyd: I started these talks up, but I think I messed up. 49ers fans hate him, a redskin fan whos a local called him 20/80 instead of 50/50. Can make the Unbelievable, Acrobatic, W-O-W! Catch though. Im not totally againts this move. Not a team player or just very very unhappy in san fransisco(EHEM, T.O) Andre Carter: History of back problems, was part of that talented 49ers defense that could not stay healthy. Stronge Sack numbers, Played Linebacker in college, defensive end in pros I heard. Love this move. Adam Archuletta: Can provide us with a solid safety if for some reason Sean Taylor goes to jail now or in the future. If Sean Taylor dosnt, it only makes us better. Can blitz, cover, and tackle all well. Todd Collins: Can Teach Campbell and Brunell the plays and ect...sorta being a mentor. One of Al Saunders guys Antwaan Randle El: Could add a new dimension to our offense throwing and running the ball. Though id want a reciever whos bigger he would be fine. He can do KR/PR too and has returned 4 TD's in his 4 year career. His recieving numbers should go up if he is our number 2 reciever as a reciever under Al Saunders. All good signings, though the Brandon Lloyd one im gonna have to wait out and see, he has the attitude of Darnerian McCants.

TLusby
I hate the thought of giving up more picks... especially for Lloyd. Some of you people need to give up this notion that draft picks are so "valuable". Give me a proven player anyday then some media hype on a guy who plays for a big school against 2-3 tough teams per year. How's that Taylor Jacobs 2nd rounder and Gardner as a 1st, etc., etc. Look at every year's 1st round picks and see how many busts there are. The percentage of busts is much higher; believe me! There are many ways to acquire players. Drafting them is one... and it's also the biggest gamble. Free agency is another. And trading a player for draft picks is another. Trading a player for a draft pick is no different than drafting a player. Is the salary higher for a veteran? Yes. It's also a bigger gamble. Gibbs likes playing the safer route and going with less risk. Seems to be working for him
ThomasRoane
I'd rather see us go after K-curt. The asking price wouldn't be no where near as high as for Lloyd. And the character issue isn't a doubt where Curtis is concerned. Out of the two, I think he could handle being the #2 guy better than Lloyd. As for Randle El, I can live with him being on our team. But he is a little smallish. Rather see him as a 3rd WR who also plays on Teams.

Yes but you are paying for that player, draft picks are not as expensive and can create depth for your teams. Why do you think teams like NE and Pittsburgh are so good, they know how to draft correctly. We have been good with the sure picks, but beyond that we have struggled. Look at the last couple of years, how many of those guys on the second day have made any impact, if not many then none. I do agree with first round picks you never know, but if you have a strong person on your team that understands the draft you can build a good team for years. So it's hard to make a true evaluation of his. I'm ambivalent on Lloyd. As well as Randle El... though I see some potential on special teams. I just think we have to measure value... and I'd rather not overpay.

Moss had like 5, Givens had 6 and so on. Trust me, the guy will catch the ball and everyone keeps talking about his and others attitudes. Bryant from cleveland has had 0 problems since he's been there and lloyd got pointed out twice two years ago by his teammates for not really having a ton of heart in a game or two. Lloyd claimed it was just frustration on their part and his coach agreed. Last year, nolan said he loved lloyd's effort and ability and he was a great player on their team. P.S. see brandon lloyd's baggage and a FA thread started by jayneal7 Everybody that had problems with lloyd wants out of San Fran, especially Beasley and because he didnt get along with the RB's coach. That whole locker room was a mess.

We have the speed in Patten and Moss, now we need somene that can move the changes and take a way the extra defenders on Moss.

I think he has deceptive speed. But for a signing bonus of $9M??? No. Those kinds of contracts should be reserved for players who have already shown what they can do. Art
I don't know if I should be thrilled, or scared. If Randle El is coming here, I still have a TREMENDOUSLY hard time imagining we'll put THAT much money into the receiver position with he and Lloyd. But, if we want him, getting him here is the closer. I think maybe we don't push as hard for him as we do normally or something, to keep the market for him hot and make other teams overpay or something . I can't begin to see how teams would approach us if we had Moss, Lloyd, Randle El and Portis with Cooley on the field at the same time. That's one heck of a weapon set. If the offense is even a wee bit sluggish then, it'll be Brunell's head we demand . For me, I'd rather see us do something at DT/LB/CB as well, even if it means NOT making a serious run at Randle El. If we can do ALL those things AND get El, well, I'm pretty sure Miami is nice in February.
grimreaper36
I know it's been mentioned before but if we did get both receivers can you imagine the possibilities for occasional trick plays? If we had Campbell at QB......how many guys on offense can pass the ball? How many can run the ball? Catch it? How the heck would you gameplan these guys? Didn't Clinton Portis complain about the run schemes PRIOR to last year? We've had a LOT of attitudes walk into Redskin country over the years under Gibbs and walk away "Old-School" players. A little time behind the wood-shed with "dad" and our guys always walk away better for the experience (or they just walk away...bye "Can't-Get-Right). He'd be walking into a veteran laden "character" team. This will work. Lloyd will be a great #2 for us. :whippin:

Seems most people on here dislike him, just curious on your thoughts....and I just woke up and am back..have you been on here all night? I've declared myself AGAINST Randle El as our No. 2 receiver. However, what I didn't like as a straight No. 2, I kind of love as a No. 2/No. 3. Seriously, a threat like that on special teams and in the passing game and you are an offense that is seriously hard to get a handle on. Now, I'd PREFER Lloyd and other players at other positions to Randle El. But, if we can get the other players TOO and still get El, then, I think it's the kind of stuff dreams, legends and trips to Miami are made of .
