Dirk Diggler
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9288840 March 6, 2006 By Clark Judge Yeah, I watched the Academy Awards, too, and I was surprised how many of the pictures that were honored touched on the same subject. I'm talking, of course, of the NFL labor negotiations that make more comebacks than Rocky Balboa. One minute they're off, with the league's 32 teams poised to unload a gaggle of free agents; the next thing you know, free-agency has been postponed and NFL owners are headed to Dallas for another round of discussions. It's compelling stuff, and, Hollywood followed it with a rash of films that were honored Sunday evening. So they're not as entertaining as Jerry Maguire; they're more informative. Plus, you get to hear people holler, "Show Me the Money!" again. Crash The story of the decline and fall of the NFL's fraternity of owners following the death of the New York Giants' Wellington Mara. It opens with Washington's Daniel Snyder paying tribute to Mara, calling him a "dear friend" and the "backbone of the league" as well as "an invaluable adviser in person and in our many phone calls." Then it jumps six months forward and follows Snyder and others evolving to anti-Maras, with a strong and vocal minority of owners preaching me-first sermons in a rancorous revenue-sharing debate that divides the league's membership and threatens to change the NFL as we know it. The contrast in the two worlds is effective, with the movie asking, "If these guys cared so much about what Mara stood for, why won't they embrace his philosophy on sharing?" After all, it suggests, isn't that what made him, as Snyder put it, "the backbone of the league?" Recommended for children, with valuable lessons on the importance of sharing. elkabong82
This writer is a Grade-A knob mongler. Hasn't it already been said by Upshaw that Snyder isn't the problem? Aren't the current rumors circling around tossing blame at either the small-market teams or Jerry "Broke (My) Back Mountin' " Jones? Just another case of an idiot "journalist" not doing any research, but instead tossing out moronic specualtion and tired rhetoric. In any case, we Skins fans know what is really going on, and that's what really matters. By the way: Anyone else think that comparing the NFL to the Oscars is cornier than Peter King's stool? Way to go the road less traveled, loser.

RIDETHEWALRUS
Yeah, I watched the Academy Awards, too, and I was surprised how many of the pictures that were honored touched on the same subject. With an intro like that I am not in the least bit surprised to see this re-run of an article. I can imagine a pack of writers standing around the water cooler (Lenny P of course is drinking melted butter) talking about what new stuff they could write about. "Hey I have an Idea!" someone bursts. "Lets talk sh!+ about the Redskins and their ownership!" Everyone else chimes in "Yeah! Great idea, wish I would have thought of that. We haven't done that in over 5 hours!. Great idea! Great idea!" They are all a bunch of putzes. At least come up with new angles to attack us. Same redundant low quality writing that will keep them earning $35 k a year and drinking themselves to death as the "complete their great novel." Bunch of talentless hacks. bricucci
Umm the portions of revenue that the big 9 are arguing over were not in the previous revenue sharing package. So for this butt-pirate to say that Snyder is against everything Mara believed in a farse. Whatever happened to "Unbiased" Journalism.
PCS
Interesting. He hammers Dan Snyder but admits there are others in this "minority" of owners. Pretty objective there Clark. He also needs to look past his obvious bias here and do some research into exactly what these owners disagree about. No. Wait. That would require some work and an open mind. Forget I said that. powerANDgut
it surprises me that you don't hear a word from Snyder all year AND you don't hear any Snyder bashing until the offseason comes around. At least these guys could be consistent throughout the year. Why can't there be more bidwell bashing for being a cheap prick who makes money while his team is at the bottom every year. They praise this guy for his business savvy for being under the cap without a CBA. and we all know it's because he won't spend to the limit for a competitive team. They're all hacks as far as i'm concerned, they all have allegiances to someone
