episodes V and III are my favorite. episode V had the best writing and the best plot twist of any movie EVER. i mean come on, you find out that darth vader is luke's father and that han is frozen in carbonite! after seeing that movie, i couldn't wait to see episode VI to see what happened next. and episode III is one of my favorites cause anikan got the snot kicked out of him by obi-wan (the greatest jedi ever). best lightsaber fight scene.

"Empire" is certainly the best paced and "directed" film of the group....I saw it in the theatre and it gave me goosebumps...I would put it in an all-time top 5! "Revenge" is the only other episode the came close to making me feel the same way...Still, the death of Anakin was epic! The rest range from ambitious but cheesy to calculated and sloppy....not unlike the 6 Star Trek films in some ways.

Star Wars:

1) Empire - V

2) Revenge - III

3) Hope - IV

4) Clones - II

5) Return - VI

6) I...just dont like it!

I had to go with Episode VI. It was my favorite one by far growing up because ***SPOILER ALERT!!***(j/k!) they kick some ass in the end, and Vader saving Luke at the end was my favorite part of the original trilogy. The Ewoks never really bothered me, probably because I was a kid when it came out. And yes Jrock, Leia in the bikini was pretty awesome at the time. Too bad they couldn't force Natalie Portman into sporting that bad boy!

IV and V were pretty close for me, but I have to go with IV by a hair for 2nd best. Mainly because it started it all. V was great too though, one of the best non-happy endings for a movie ever, imo.

III was by far the best of the new trilogy. It was as close to perfect as any of them, and the ending was pretty emotional. I liked the other two a lot (II a little bit more than 1), but I had some beef with both of them. I couldn't stand Jake Lloyd, and thinking of his voice makes me want to bash my head into my desk. I never had any hate for Jar Jar though. And the love story in II was, as everyone has said, done very poorly. I also wish Lucas didn't get so computer-reliant in the new trilogy. The effects were cool and all, but it lost a lot of the luster from the original trilogy.

III sucked mainly because they insisted on having the dude continue to play anikan. That guy can NOT act. I hate him too. I really hate him. I want him to fall into a large lat of peanut butter (peter pan brand).

I'm not a big fan of Hayden either. He didn't have a whole lot to work with though, Anakin was supposed to be that whiny and annoying. I like that Lucas went with an unknown actor for the part, but he picked the wrong guy, imo.

From what I understand, although I haven't seen the movie, Hayden Christensen did a very good job in Shattered Glass. Some of the blame has to rest on Lucas's directing.

I generally liked all of the origianal better. Empire was my favorite, just because I loved the Hoth and Cloud City scenes. It was also the darkest. The only part I didn't like was Mark Hamill's famous "Nooooooo!!!!!" when he found out the truth about his dad. He just butchered it.

The newer ones were good, but seemed geared more for kids than adults.

......PG......

If they had gone for the PG-13 rating would have been better fight scenes.

Yes, but weren't the original PG? I remember sitting on my dad's lap at the movies in Marlow Heights, Maryland watching A New Hope, when I was 3 in 1977. One of my earliest clear memories actually.

The biggest argument that could be made for episode 3 in my opinion would be if you didn't watch the original trilogy and thus didn't know that Vader was Anikin. That being said, the revelation at the end of Empire isn't as good if you had seen episode 3.

I try to judge the trilogies seperatly and when I watch the latest trilogy I try to block out what I know of the first one... I know this is hard but that being said it makes the latest trilogy a lot better.

I say 3, there could have easily been another movie with all the storyline that they had to cover, but they were forced into it with the other movies already made and thus I feel they did a phenominal job with it.

of the original 3 I would say Empire strikes back, and I would definatly rank them in this order

III

V

IV

II

VI

I

I loved them all but this would have to be the order based upon the story lines along with the execution of said storylines...

Abolutely fantastic movies:

IV

V

III

Great movies, but not quite at the same level:

VI

II

Good movie, but clearly a step below the others:

I

Not suprisingly, the middle movies are the best. The stage has been set, and the tension is the highest. Ep1 had to do the most work, and Ep6 had to provide a decent payoff. I think both acheived that, but at the expense of the individual movies. Like Code said, you really gotta look at it as one big movie.

I liked them all, but that's the order if I had to make one.
