A call for Lavar to restructure!

I have heard numerous times from Lavar that he wants to be a life long Redskin. At one point he even said he might retire if he gets released or cut. I think now is the perfect time for him to step up and make good on his claims. I would like to see Lavar step up to the plate and take one for the team. Restructure or take a pay cut. I mean cmon just how many millions do you need? I for one am a Lavar fan and even bought his jersey. I would just like to see him do the right thing here and take the team first attitude.

arrington will be here only if he restructures

I'd say Lavar doesn't just have to restructure, but take a pay cut in order to reduce his atrocious cap hit for each season in the future.

If Brunell took a pay cut and not just a restructure, Arrington should do the same, especially given that he didn't even play 3rd downs last year.

I agree 100%. The problem is, I think that the coaching staff doesnt consider him a core guy and just might want to cut him anyway.

You are right. LA is most likely itching to restructure and be part of the core. The problem is the front office hasn't called his name and most likely will not until the CBA has some finality. He will be a June 1st cut with an extension of the CBA which will save $ for 2006 and push $5M or so of deadcap into 2007. The real issue is that the cut will get rid of his future contract years which clearly overpays LA.

What would be the motive in cutting him if he's willing to restructure and take a paycut?

Does anybody seem to think he would take a pay cut?

I do. I just worry he'll respond afterwards by arranging an interview with Dave Elfin, and Elfin makes him seem like a martyr who was treated so unjustly by the FO.

Lavar is a bit of an egomaniac IMO, more so then most. What's to guarantee he'd ever receive the kind of fan adulation he has here if he goes anywhere else?

Most peoples quality of living would be affected by a pay cut, that's the difference.

True, A mans money is his money, and I would never expect for a player to take a pay cut not even Brunell who stunt it up his first year. Restructure sure! The problem with us fans is that we think as fans and not the individual. I know if someone asked me to take a pay cut, no matter how much I'm making, I'd probably decline the offer.

Okay and there goes our Super Bowl. Don't think so? Name his replacement?

Taking a cap hit for the benefit of the team is not only smart but essential for success. Retaining core members of the team will truly benefit all in the future, after this madness is over. The Skins make more money than any other team in the league. A great season would cetainly reward them all later. Patience and understanding will ultimately prevail, they'll all get their money as long as they stay real to the team.

How bout a call for people to calm down and read a couple of threads before you go calling a player out. I'm starting to wonder why Lavar wants to be here in the first place.

Just having a discussion about it. It was not meant to be bad. As I stated in my post I am a Lavar fan. And I will be the first to sing his praises if he steps up.

come on LA, this is the time to shine bra..i'm pretty sure that if he restructures..

then he'll be here.. i honestly don't see how we could replace him.. he is the emotional leader on the field..

he is still be fan favorite and with a move like this.. i think he'll be in the same light as he was a few years ago..

The NFLPA won't let players take a pay cut, they can lower their salary to a certain degree but it's not enough to make a difference on the cap, all of the restructuring is going to be on bonus money and prorating, his base isn't that much anyway

I know in the real world if my boss asked me to take a pay cut I would do it OR i would be looking for a new job knowing my pink slip was on the way. And its the same for Lavar because if he does not take a pay cut he is looking for a new team
