chow184
It goes to show that all the people Gibbs has brought in are great guys who will put their team first ahead of a few dollars. Jon Jansen Randy Thomas Mark Brunell Clinton Portis Shawn Springs Marcus Washington and unnamed others these guys are possibly* messing with their wallets to keep this team intact :notworthy I think they all deserve a big thanks if no CBA gets signed. *should a new CBA get signed this entire thing would have been a big false alarm, but it has showed us how close this team is. look at the Jets ,they asked a bunch of good players to restructure, and where are they now? the street because they wanted their coin over the good of the team. Lil Kenzo
I love it too. It shows that the era of overpaying players is over. This team is now just that...a team.

FootballGuy2677
Its great to see sombody like Jon Jansen and Mark Brunell restructure their contracts. For Jon, it proves he really is a team leader. and Mark Brunell, even though he wont be he for more than 5 or 6 years. He still cares about this team. fuji869
Looks like Coach Gibbs is waving his magic on the team. Gold you are back Joe, things weren't the same after you left.
dreamshatterer
Its the Gibbs factor all the way. Thats EXACTLY what it is. You think theses guys would do the same under Turner or Spurrier??? HELL NO!
we_want_56
Man. I was just about to say the same thing. I didn't know about Marcus, but this is just amazing. We were in a jam so our players came to the rescue and bail us out. It's this moment that I realize what Gibbs' way is all about This is more than a team. This is a family. You make whatever sacrafices necessary for your family. I didn't always realize what Coach Gibbs meant about character guys. When he first came back I was 15 years old and I thought who acares about character as long as their good. I know now. This wouldn't happen on a Spurrier or Turner coached team. Those years were about every body getting theirs. This is about helping out your teemates. No helping out your brothers so we can all reach our goals together. You could have given us another SB trophy with Spurrier, but it wouldn't mean as much as it does with these players. Jon, Mark, Randy, Marcus, Clinton and SHawn on behalf of skins fans every where Thank You.
hu-bison-skinsfan
Thats EXACTLY what it is. You think theses guys would do the same under Turner or Spurrier??? HELL NO! I love this attitude, too but here's hoping that their efforts are rewarded and they don't one day end up on a veterans trash heap.
SkinsTillIDie
Isn't there something ironic about the players union holding out for more money, which directly leads to our players restructuring and taking pay cuts?

PogoJr
Only in the deepest part of my heart did I even dare hope that these guys would step up like they have. I am so proud of them and even prouder to be a lifelong Redskin fan. It's Joe Gibbs all the way. I remember the first JG era very well but I never thought he would be able to find the same type of "character" guys that he had before. Not in NFL as it is today. I think Joe Gibbs had a lot to do with bringing out the character in these guys. Just incredible. Hail Skins!!
SkinsHokieFan
Who says anyone took a paycut? I am happy they did this, but lets be honest here guys, they are not losing one dime by restructuring. Now if I see tommorow all these guys returned part of their signing bonuses, then yeah I'll give them an extra pat on the back I am glad though that they went ahead and got themselves more money upfront and helped the cap

As the title of this thread says "Team First Attitude". A special thanks to Joe Gibbs and to all the guys who are doing what they can to help and showing that they respect Gibbs and the Redskins organization. :applause: :notworthy

Clinton Portis also lost the last three years of his contract, for better or for worse.
MoDaddy
Man I'm a proud Redskins fan!! This gives even more traction to the notion that CHARACTER matters and does build TEAMS!!! Dang we are going to be a great TEAM this season!!!
#98QBKiller
Amen guys. This team we have right now is something special. Teams like this become champions and stay champions for a long time. How does it make Jansen a team leader and not anyone else who restructured a leader?

They all have my utmost respect!!! How musch respect does JG command when in this day of Greed we see players willing to sacrifice for the good of the team. JG proved that you can succeed in todays NFL by building a team with character players, guys you believe in and believe in you!!!! I can't wait until all the doom and gloom anaylsts see that they once again mis-calculated JG and his belief in character over talent!! I guess if you aren not a character individual and only think of youself such as pastabelly then you will never see the merits in character because you lack it in yourself!!! Grimm
I've never been this impressed with a team like I am right now, the team first attitute is hard to find nowadays and its really refreshing to see, especially after all that garbage the NHL went through over the last two years
