jivelikenice
Does the union have to agree to this delay to the start of free agency? If they did then this is definitely a good sign....

skinstzar
 I think Upshaw and the owners have been watching too much 'Deal no Deal'It really sucks to be those teams that pushed the panic button and released players they didn't want to, only to find out a new deal has been agreed upon. What teams, what cuts. The only cuts where cuts that were going to be made anyway right?

REDMAN7
POSTED 5:00 p.m. EST; UPDATED 5:03 p.m. EST, March 2, 2006 NFL EXTENDS START OF LEAGUE YEAR A league source tells us that the NFL and the NFLPA have agreed to extend by 72 hours the launch of the 2006 league year. Per the source, the year will begin at 12:01 a.m. Monday morning, and not at 12:01 a.m. on Friday morning. This means that the deadline for getting under the 2006 salary cap likewise is extended from 10:00 p.m. Thursday night to 10:00 p.m. Sunday night. It also suggests that maybe, just maybe, there will be progress toward getting the CBA extended. Stay tuned.

Hopefully this isnt another false alarm! I'm just wondering if the players are starting to lean hard on Upshaw realizing that theres gonna be a lot of unemployed or very low paid players if no CBA is done. :notworthy :helmet: :logo:
SkinsHokieFan
I guess this is good news.? Great news. The NFL and the NFLPA now have 3 more days to hammer this deal out It SHOULD get done because clearly both sides want it to get done
ECU-ALUM
"We've set a deadline..." "we're extending the deadline..." "we may have to cut...." "we won't cut.." "we have a deal" "We' don't have a deal." This is getting absurd. All we need is someone to be a "mole" and we've got an entire season of "24"

The Evil Genius
Unless I am mistaken, wouldn't both parties have to agree to push back the start of FA? So it would make me think that a deal isn't dead in the water.

Combatant
Unless I am mistaken, wouldn't both parties have to agree to push back the start of FA? So it would make me think that a deal isn't dead in the water. They both did agree and it's obvious the players and owners don't want either end of the deal.
