tr1
By Sam Wood INQUIRER STAFF WRITER http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/14000160.htm Donovan McNabb and Jeremiah Trotter were no-shows last night in a South Jersey municipal courtroom, where they had been summoned for a mandatory court appearance. The Philadelphia Eagles heavyweights are accused of parking their SUVs in handicapped parking spots at the Landmark Americana sports bar. Trotter hosted a radio show at the Landmark for sports radio WIP-AM called "Unnecessary Roughness." Judge Charles J. Sprigman Jr. rejected letters of defense sent by agents working for the quarterback and linebacker. Sprigman said the players must appear or be represented by an attorney. ... tr1
BTW...I came back to respond to some posts in an earlier thread, but I found it was closed...not sure why. Anyway, everyone was in a titter because I hadn't expounded on the idea of not having a draft. What I was alluding to was the Leagues failure to do a CBA, not because of the players' demands, but because of the infighting among the owners. I'm thinking this could lead to a break-up of the league. You may think this impossible, but I've lived through a lot of NFL history. There were two leagues at one time...actually several times. What's to stop 12 wealthier teams from breaking away and raiding all fo the talent? What would the NFL be like without a draft? Or a draft where the best players are gone? I think we're seeing the problem with having too many teams. Too many owners makes decision making almost impossible. And with everyone about ready to go to court, we may be seeing some spectaular changes to the structure of the game as we know i If the union decertifies, there's a good chance that there will be two leagues...a very good chance. Eagle091
I don't know where you come up with some of this stuff. wtf are you talking about? the way sports are regulated these days, the league would never break up or split. stop smoking weed man. Let's see...the union has said that if there is no CBA they will de-certify. If they de-certify, they can't be locked out in '08. If they can't be locked out, they will strike. Enter the scabs.... Far fetched? It's happened once. I only take it to the next level...the strife within mangement ranks. If enough owners band together and lawyer up, anything is possible. . Monte51Coleman
http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/PHI/9281199 Well, if you think about it, it is a pretty selfish act. A professional athlete parking in a designated handicap spot, how ironic. Screw the poor guy in the wheelchair I'm a celebrity!
