Mickalino
Brian Griese is a lock to be a salary cap casualty by the Bucs. How about Griese as a #3, behind Brunell and Campbell ? He should be a decent #3, the only question is, would he be willing to take such a demotion ?

D'Pablo
Are you kidding me? This guy is gonna be a starter somewhere. If Frerotte can get a starting gig, this guy should be a perennial probowler.
Hooper
There's a real good chance we can't trade Ramsey now. Why waste a pick on him when he's going to be cut?
dreamshatterer
Hell, we may end up going in with just 2 QB's (I know, its crazy talk)
Mickalino
Why would someone trade for Ramsey? I can think of a few teams that would trade at least a low-rounder for Ramsey. But regardless, your point is moot or irrelevant. Whether or not it's due to a trade, he will not be with us much longer, which still brings us to the question in the thread about Griese. Why would someone trade for a guy that is available on the free market. That would be like trading for TO right now.
sammyk8773
U guys are dumbasses why would a guy who started for tampa last year and played extremely well accept a offer that will make him a third string QB!!!

We're talkin Miami Dolphins, who are about as good as the college team in Miami. Your Aunt Josephine could start for the Dolphins. Heck, Sage Rosenfels started for them. AJ_Skins
If Ramsey is traded or released, it would be impossible to replace him with somebody of equal ability for the same or lower price, including Griese. I think the cap situation makes it more likely Ramsey will be kept, rather than less. The team will have no margin for error cap-wise, and Ramsey is the most cost-effective QB depth they can get. They won't have the luxury of letting him go to "make him happy". I could be wrong, but that's what I would guess.

The team can free up $1.2 million by either cutting him or trading him.

NEMO
Nobody has brought up the most important fact that will prevent us getting anybody good at #3. We have no cap room!!! Why would we waste room on our #3 QB when we don't have a #2 WR. We should draft someone in the 7th round or sign anyone we can to play for the league minimum. RDSKNFN_48
Billy Volek is probably going to be cut...He would be more logical IMO.

flippo07
Also, there is no way we are going to sign a veteran qb because its going to cost too much. We will most likely draft someone with a late round pick and hope to be able to groom him. Volek, Griese are all going to to demand some money and both are capable starters and at least backups not 3rd stringers.

The only thing that you can do if Ramsey is cut is draft a QB in the late rounds. There are too many holes to address that cannot be addressed via free agency. The only need that could possibly be addressed by free agency is a #2 receiver. Other than that, a DE, a nickelback, a TE, a safety in case Taylor ends up in jail. Most of those can be drafted, but we don't know anything about how payment of the picks will work.
AJ_Skins
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but from his comments at the combine, I think Gibbs was already hesitant to trade Ramsey, and this just makes it less likely he will be traded or released. If they could have created some room under a new cap, they could have potentially afforded to spend a little more than what they were paying Ramsey to add somebody at QB. Now, it will have to be somebody who costs the same or less and still can play if needed, and you aren't going to find that. After all Gibbs said about Ramsey's value in regard to a trade, if they have to outright release him, I think it will be the last resort.
Lombardi's_kid_brother
Griese could start on ten teams...he is going to come here to hold a clipboard? This is my ongoing question: do posters here watch other games or just Redskin games?
