bubba9497
Is it me, or is the news wire kind of quiet with 12 hours until the new cap becomes official? With so many teams over the expected cap.... shouldn't there be reports of players being cut & restructures coming in about now. Yes there were some yesterday, but most were of the expected variety even with a deal in place. Something just seems strange.... :whoknows:
RedskinsFanatic
I thought that as well but we as fans are so far out of the loop we are looking for anything positive. At least I am. .......and the clock keeps ticking.......
dchogs
i agree bubba... had the same thought this morning, when i expected to see a slew of stuff in the NFL section. maybe this is a good sign that the owners *know* the CBA will get finished? SwampLands
adam scheffter just said on the radio mostly all the owners left ny.. there will be no cap miracle today or tonite.... Bloody Thursday is upon us.
Byner21
I agree, but maybe final restructuring attempts are being made, and players are being informed that they will be cut. The calm before the storm? Or maybe the NFLPA is feverishly trying to reach the owners??
Isifhan
I was thinking that too, but then I realize the way that the news often works. You need to talk to team officials to get the cuts right, but if all of the team officials are heavily involved in contract talks and renegotiations there's no way they really have time to do player by player releases to the press. My guess as far as the skins are concerned is that it will come out at the end of the day on the website.
EnFoRcEr_uPu
You have to understand too, that if by some work of god the CBA was a done deal by 7 or 8pm tonight, a LOT of teams would be pissed knowing that they've already cut players. So I would expect a lot of cuts to happen later on in the day, as teams start to realize that this really IS the reality of things.
HOF44
I agree Bubba, its almost like a wave of cuts were made yesterday (although not many surprising) to get the NFLPA's attention. Who knows if that might help, but couldn't hurt. I mean why did those teams not wait till the day of the deadline to do those cuts?
jimster
I'm expect from about 6pm on the headlines will be piling up.

Hooper
Not really. Teams just aren't going to pull the trigger on cutting players they don't want to until they're absolutely positive the CBA isn't going to be extended.
rebornempowered
I will bet on the calm before the storm scenario. Imagine how many phones agents are talking on at one time right now. I would bet everybody and their uncle is being asked to rescructure.

ThornWithin
I'd imagine teams are planning...possibly waiting until we get a little closer to the deadline. The last thing you'd want to do is cut five key guys, then have the talks work out.

I'm waiting to hear who all these players who restructured are. It was my understanding that the deals were done, just waiting for final word before they are signed. Isifhan
actually all they do is report when teams contact the league office. Well, that makes sense...however it's only been an hour since they were given word that the cap won't grow, even if a plan was in place it probably takes a good bit to execute it. Heidenreich
I would figure every team over the cap has already asked their players to restructure, which leads to either A)- deals that will go into affect if there's no new CBA (Like the rumors about us), or - a list of players who will be cut once they know there's no new CBA. The deadline is ten? Watch ESPNnews at about 9:45, they'll need three tickers to announce all the cuts
HOF44
The phones at the league office will be manned like the Jerry Lewis telethon taking all the calls for cuts.
carlsbadd
What I find odd is that the salary cap deadline is 10:00pm but they coud reach a new CBA as late as 12:01AM It would be a major blunder if that happens. There is also the possibiolity that the League extends the start of Free agancy for another day or two to hammer out a deal.
Xameil
The phones at the league office will be manned like the Jerry Lewis telethon taking all the calls for cuts. ...And we have Jessica Simpson answering this phone. This particular phone is dedicated to Rosenhaus. So please call and donate to the Restructureing to get under the cap fund...

AJ_Skins
I'm hoping we get information from the team on the website as soon as anything happens. An explanation of how the team is going to handle this from Larry Michael, perhaps via an interview with Cerrato or something, as soon as it's possible, would be good.
