Byner21
What does it mean when they put the word "(charge)" next to the figure? Anybody know?
Dirk Diggler
What does it mean when they put the word "(charge)" next to the figure? Anybody know? Means that there's no savings to be gained - only an additional cap charge. So, yes - it would cost us more to cut Arrington right now (June is a different story) than it would to keep him. Heidenreich
What does it mean when they put the word "(charge)" next to the figure? Anybody know? I believe it means that we have to pay that much. Meaning it's useless to cut Lavar for cap savings.
Funkyalligator
Yeah...this is why I find it crazy that all the pundits are saying we are going to cut Lavar Arrington.....because when you get right down to it....it doesn't save us anything at all...in fact it costs money.... HailYeah
We are going to cut soooo many players. If Lavar doesnt matter right now, we are going to have to cut at least one other high profile player that is going to piss the **** out of people. skinstzar
Wait, we save 12 million by cutting Lavar? I thought that would accelerate 12 against the cap???
RedskinsNation
Its all about the "nucleus" players at this point. - Portis - Griffin - MW - Taylor - L.Marshall - Moss - Cooley - Jansen or Thomas or Raybach or Samuels or Dockery (having all 5 back would be a dream) 3 would be nice. - Rogers - (Campbell the future nucleus). Losing any of the others is going to have to be dealt with......but these "12" (assuming 3 of the starting O-line will be kept). Should be the focus. Jerrod6002
Wait, we save 12 million by cutting Lavar? I thought that would accelerate 12 against the cap??? We don't save 12 million. We take a cap hit of 12.1 million by releasing him.

PleaseGoForTheWin
Who was the genius that signed Lavar for $12M? Exactly. And people complain about Brunell making $4M. Really now, who's contributed more? BTW, I hope LaVar stays a Redskins. But that salary is out of control.

graffjd
12 million is not Lavar's salary this year. The salary cap figure for an individual player is the basically the players actual salary for the year + a prorated portion of his signing bonus. Example a player signs a 17 million dollar contract for 5 years with a 10 million dollar signing bonus so the cap figures for each year would be: year 1 salary 300,000 +2,000,000(1/5 of signing bonus) = 2.3 million dollar cap figure year 2 salary 500,000 +2,000,000(1/5 of signing bonus) = 2.5 million dollar cap figure year 3 salary 700,000 +2,000,000(1/5 of signing bonus) = 2.7 million dollar cap figure year 4 salary 1,500,000 +2,000,000(1/5 of signing bonus) = 3.5 million dollar cap figure year 5 salary 2,000,000 + 2,000,000(1/5 of signing bonus) = 4 million dollar cap figure
