Olky
OK, so the family and I are going to a wedding in Richmond in June and thought it would be good to take a few extra days vacation after that. We have 2 boys which by that time the youngest will be 1 and the oldest will be a few days away from turning 3. The oldest loves animals so we thought about going to the aquarium and to the zoo in DC. I'm looking for advice on where's a good place to stay. We would prefer a hotel that has suites. We don't mind dropping some cash, but don't want the costs to be too outrageous. Thanks for the help. Also where's a good place that's easy to find to pick up some Redskins gear? Need to pick up the boys some new stuff since they are growing out of what they have. I've been tearing up ebay lately as it is.
Spaceman Spiff
If you're staying in DC, tysons corner mall has a redskins store. If you're staying up in Baltimore for a day or two, there's the sheraton inner harbor, within walking distance to oriole park at camden yards and the aquarium. pretty sure it has suites. DO NOT stray far from the inner harbor. Unless you are going to Fells Point or Canton. The rest of the city isn't safe. There is also a Zoo in Baltimore. They just did an upgrade to the polar bear exhibit. As for Redskins gear in the baltimore area, you can find a small selection at Modells sporting goods stores. On you way out of town you can stop at Either Tysons corner As Spiff said or Montgomery Mall in bethesda. Both malls are right off 495.

The 12th Commandment
I went to a conference a few years back in the Inner Harbor area. I thought it rocked. It was the first ESPN Zone I had been to and I though I died and went to heaven. Don't miss Ft. McHenry and the little movie they show. It was awesome in a really cool patriotic kind of way. Have fun!:applause:
Gallntfox
I for one can tell through my experience that the kids will have a much better time at the Baltimore Zoo. You can get much closer to the animals and the zoo overall is much more kid-friendly. They do charge an admission fee however it's not that much as opposed the the National Zoo in DC being free.... Thanks, I was wondering which zoo was better. I saw that it cost to get in there which is why I was looking at the National Zoo. I've been to the National Zoo, but it was so long ago I don't really remember it.
rictus58
Don't forget to visit the Maryland Science Center. Its built for kids, but it's a lot of fun for adults too. It's across the Harbor from the Aquarium.

rictus58
Thats what I was thinking. I would stay away from Baltimore altogether. Stick with DC. In all seriousness, Baltimore has a lot to offer. Historically and culturally. People love to bring up the STD thing. But the man is vacationing with his family. STD's aren't carried in the air. As long as he doesn't venture too far to the north or west he'll be ok.
Johnny Punani2
I'd stay in Crystal City while in DC.
Mooney
Make sure you see the Golden Domes of Essex. And Downtown Dundalk in the wintertime is an experience the whole family can enjoy.

Believe me, I've been to the areas where you don't want to go and I can tell you that Charm City is Disney land with Mickey Mouse as a dope fiend and minnie is a crack whore. Do your self a favor and dont go to Baltimore. Unless you can get into the Harbor and out without straying off of the path.

Yeah, stay away from Pig Town too, its a scary place. It's easy to get lost on those crazy one-way streets. I recommend the Inner Harbor though, especially on a nice day. There are plenty of nice areas in Baltimore City. But,again like ANY MAJOR CITY, there are areas you dont want to be in.
