essex03
I was watching that Ryan Lacasse kid. He's a DE and ran 4.58... wonder where he is projected?
Oldskool
Combine numbers are great but no everyone ran/threw in the combine and will do so at their respective schools pro days. Then we can start...
RIDETHEWALRUS
Thanks for the post, been having trouble gathering all that info. I am surprised DeQwell Jackson was that slow. He plays alot faster than he times apparently. I never thought I would say this...but I really want VD.
Grumpy Vet
Speed I think we have......@ wide out. How about some massive over the middle red zone threat receiver as a TE or WR. Maybe somebody in the neighborhood of 7'10" - 325# that runs a 4.5 40 that we can pick up in the third or fourth round w/ one of our first picks.....is that too much to ask? Brad89
Holy crap. 4.41 for a DL..let's get Manny Lawson!
Brad89
Here's nfldraftblitz's analysis on him. Positives - Despite playing defensive end at NC State, Manny’s shown he has more than enough athleticism to drop back to play linebacker. He may actually be on of the faster LB prospects in the country, which makes the fact that he played DE fairly astounding. He’s an excellent pass rusher, racking up 7 sacks and 12 tackles for loss last year, but is also very good in run support. Also, he has great size for an Outside Linebacker. Weaknesses - Hasn’t played linebacker since his sophomore year, so there’s going to be a natural readjustment period. The first thing that the team that drafts him will have to work on is his coverage skills, because the speed of the game will have changed a great deal from his last LB duty. Plus, he had the benefit of playing across from possibly the best DE in the nation at NC State in Mario Williams, so his numbers may be a little inflated. Overall Analysis - The risk/reward value on Manny is one of the highest in the 2006 class. He could never meet his expectations due to the inability to return to the LB position at a high level, or he could turn out to be one of the most dangerous linebackers in the league. Manny’s ideal situation would probably be in a 3-4, which would having him standing up, but also allow the freedom to rush the passer very, very often. NFL Draft Countdown has him as a 'day one' pick. Maybe we could draft him in the 3rd round?

Warhead36
Ugh, the 40 is so overrated. How often is a DE going to run 40 yards straight ahead anyway? Measurements of quickness(cone drill?)are way more valuable.

SkinsHokieFan
the combine is just a giant waste of time Why do you say that? These workout numbers are key in determining who has the natural strength, speed and quickness to cut it in the NFL If it was a waste of time, Danny Wuerfall would be an NFL superstar
jsco1112
Wow Merceded Lewis ran slow. I know earlier in the year he was a big time prospect. I still think the kid can be a stud Tight End. Where is he projected now?
FullbackIsKey
Why do you say that? These workout numbers are key in determining who has the natural strength, speed and quickness to cut it in the NFLIf it was a waste of time, Danny Wuerfall would be an NFL superstar no he wouldn't. If you can't play, you can't play. But you may be able to run really fast, and still not be able to play. Also, have you ever taken a stopwatch and run it to 4.3 seconds, and 4.6 seconds, there is no discernable difference. Combine stats are almost a total waste, save for the instance where you are completely torn between 2 players.
