ddub52
I found this link thats basically saying how offensive the "Redskins" name is. According to the article, as of July the lawsuit was appealed. Does anyone know the current status of the lawsuit? Does anyone have any information or links contradicting what this articles states. I hate to think of our name as offensive, but werent some of the original Redskins in 1932 actually Native Americans? http://www.redskinssucks.com/qanda.cfm Sorry merge or move if necessary

And the original ruling does not prohibit the organization from using the name or logo. It simply removes trademark protection, so anyone could market Redskins merchandise or create a Redskins football team without Snyder's permission. He could still keep the name even if we lose all the appeals. Don't know that he would keep it though since merchandise profit would clearly decline. I don't think even Danny Boy would change the name, at least not while Joe Gibbs is still on the payroll.

It won't be resolved until long after Joe is gone, I'm sure. But, hopefully you're right. Snyder does seem intent on keeping the name. Jack Kemp Cooke was once asked in an interview if he would consider chainging the name of the Washington Redskins. He laughed and said, "Over my dead body." Predicto
I don't think even Danny Boy would change the name, at least not while Joe Gibbs is still on the payroll. Why do you assume that Joe Gibbs cares whether or not the name is changed? I have no idead what he thinks on this, nor do I see how it would be any affront to Gibbs if the owner decided to change the name.
