Great 'headphones' albums

Hahahahah, I am listening to Beating around the Bush right now. I have every single AC/DC album, and I love them. I agree they need to be played absolutely as loud as possible, which probably would make them the worst band to listen to with headphones on...Because bleeding from the ears is not fun.:silly:

I worry for my speakers' safety when AC/DC is involved.

Wow, NOBODY has recommended Zeppelin? Led Zeppelin is amazzzzzzzzing to listen to in the headphones. I barely even enjoy them without the headphones blazing. They are one of the heaviest bands ever, yet they are probably the most subtle rock band ever, too. When you listen to 'em on headphones you can pick up all of Bonham's fluttery little accents that surround his bombastic playing. Jimmy Page's fire becomes literally unbelievable in headpones. Then there's John Paul Jones' bass playing that is truely complimented when you have it pressed against your ears. I think they're the ultimate headphone band for rock n' roll.

Otherwise you gotta turn up the sterio, or just don't play 'em at all.

Funny, the drummer in my band and I were discussing Bonham this past weekend at at gig. Another drummer commented on how Bonham sucked in their opinion and went on to say how easy his stuff was etc... How sloppy he was etc... I play drums as well and I mentioned exactly what you just said... it's all the little things that someone with a crappy ear misses. Much of the subtle things go right over alot of people's heads.

"Child Of The Novelty" is great, my Dad got me into MR not too long ago.

Along the same lines, I just wanted to add Rush's "Permanent Waves" to this list... especially the closer, "Natural Science".

Hey Todd at that link http://www.mahoganyrush.com/albums.htm you can hear all of Marino's lp's in thier entirety. Btw the North Mississippi Allstars

Thanks for the link, definitely gonna check it out when I get the chance. I saw the All-Stars back in December at 9:30 Club... I was right on the railing, so killer. I'll be seeing them at Wolf Trap in June (10th) when they come with moe... should be another great show.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I finally broke down and bought a pair. I was on a flight from Hartford to Detroit on Thursday of last week. It was a DC-9, and I was sitting in the back. The engine was right next to my head.

I told myself then that I would be treating myself to a pair no matter what the cost. I fly again Monday, can't wait to try them out. :)

Beats are great but terribly over-priced imho.

Which is why they're a great gift. Not my preference, but still good headphones. Pink Floyd - Insert any album here - is amazing. Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania, the song specifically is awesome with headphones on. The drum transition part will sound incredible with a pair of Beats and a high quality recording.
