PFT: Redskins made offer for R. Lewis (rumor)

NO TRUTH TO RAY-TO-'BOYS RUMORS

We caught wind of a rumor recently that the Cowboys and Ravens could be working out a trade that would send disgruntled linebacker Ray Lewis to Dallas for a second-round or a third-round pick.

A league source tells us that the rumor is off the mark.

However, we're told that the Redskins previously have made a significant offer for Lewis -- and that the Ravens declined.

Although the Ravens aren't inclined to give Lewis the salary increase that he so desperately wants, they're holding out for a big package of picks and/or players for a guy whom many still regard as one of the best defensive players in the game -- and they're apparently willing to keep him under the terms of his current deal, even if he's not happy with it.

Lewis is entering the fifth year of a seven-year deal. He is scheduled to earn $5.5 million in 2006, $6.5 million in 2007, and $6.5 million in 2008.

If Ray Lewis was on our team we would be better. We are so close to being the best team in the league were just 1 or 2 players away. He might be the answer he makes big plays in big games that's for sure. I'm not going to give up on Lavar maybe he has learned his lesson and is ready to be the team player and leader we need.

Wow, so many rumours floating around about us attempting to acquire top dollar players from other teams. WTF is going on? This is so opposite to almost every report about our team's salary cap situation. Are we somehow going to have 10 mil in cap room that we don't know about? I don't see how us we could legitimately be thinking about Abraham/Ray-ray. Either there are some really, really confused cap "experts" in the media (not much of a stretch, really, more of a given) or Dan the Man is confident the CBA will get done. I just don't understand how the entire media world could be so off base that we're going after super high-priced players while they're expecting us to be cutting starters and playing undrafted rookies. Something really strange is going on.

That is perhaps one of the dumbest rumors ive ever heard. Why the heck would we need a LB, one who wants a ton of money and is old as the hills, and past his good days?

Its like.... "Well, our last rumor was dead wrong, so lets just start a new one!".

At least be responsible.

The first thing a good agent does when his client is looking for a big contract is start a rumor that the Skins are interested. Happens EVERY year.

Ray Ray will not be coming here.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!!!

plus Marshall played above expectations at MLB....unless we were to move him to OLB to replace Lavar....its b.s.

Bingo. Please take note folks. Most "inside" rumors that talk about the Redskins being interested in someone are started by agents who are trying to get more money for their client. After Dan Snyder dies and wills all of his money to orphans in Asia, agents will still be trying to use his name to get more money for their clients.
