SkinsHokieFan
Boy would I love an Andyman sighting right about now. This is confusing. Agree Andyman, anyway to confirm this or squash this?
waterwagen
WHA WHA WHAT!!!I'm not sure what that means, but I'm guessing it's utter and complete shock than anyone associated with the Redskins (in any way) would suggest any sort of fiscal responsibility.
zoony
We love some Jet players dont we? No doubt  Those poor, miserable Jets fans. They must have one helluva inferiority complex going by now.
ishani
Not that this is indicative of anything regarding Abraham (although it's possible), but our odds of taking the NFC went up to 7-1 and winning the Superbowl odds went up to 18-1. That's ahead of all other NFC East teams plus some other decent teams like Tampa, etc. I believe just recently the same book (sportsbook.com) had us 10-1 and 22-1, respectively. DCsportsfan53
Okay, now 980 said it will be a trade, Ramsey for Abraham, with no mention of anything/anyone else. Are these 980 guys just spurting stuff out, or is this deal getting close to done? Every commercial break they have something more specific to add to the report. Sorry, that wha wha what was for this post. I quoted the wrong one.

DCsportsfan53
You were so flabbergasted you hit the wrong reply button. Pretty much. Did 980 really say a deal was almost done?

herrmag
Pretty much. Did 980 really say a deal was almost done? NO. And before anyone accuses me of stating that they did, I'd like to clarify (because I know how touchy people get over these things). On the last commercial break on 980, they essentially said the 'Skins are in discussions with the Jets to trade Ramsey for Abraham. In previous commercial breaks, they simply stated that the 'Skins were "interested" in Abraham, and didn't give specifics on who or what was going to be involved. All of this could mean nothing, hence my question asking whether or not anyone else heard it. That being said, let the pandemonium ensue.

visionary
I heard they were trading Ramsey to the Jets, and then planning on trading Abraham to the Eagles for TO... Wait...no, I just made that up.
chrisbcbu
how do we know we can't afford him is he still under contract? He was franchised. But that makes no difference to us. In order for us to trade for him. We would have to work out a contract before the deal can be completed.

Either way, if they are actively pursuing the option with the Jets I think we can infer that our FO knows a little more and is more optimistic about our cap situation thatn most. Like I said before, this would lead me to believe that a CBA extension is imminent or that getting under the cap is not going to be as difficult as it's been made out. waterwagen
Ok, just listened to the 2:00pm 980 update and they said that Abraham is on the trading block (no surprise) and that "the Redskins remain interested, possibly trading Patrick Ramsey, according to the Star-Ledger". apickmans
Has anyone gone over to the Jets fan forums and checked out what they saying about this ramsey/abraham rumor?
waterwagen
Looks like this is the article 980 is using as their source. It really just mentions the Redskins in passing, along with a few other teams who are interested. I'd say this one is a long shot at this point. skinstzar
I think this would be a mistake of immeasurable proportions. Lots of people want to get rid of Lavar because he wore his heart on his sleeve. Yet people are willing to take on a player who wants to be paid like the highest paid D ends and who once refused to play in a PLAYOFF game. This guy doesn't care about the team concept. Unless we pay him he isn't going to give us his all. I would rather have Phillip Daniels and Renaldo Wynn any day of the week, twice on SUNDAY. I wouldn't give the Jets a bag of F'ing rocks for John Abraham. I especially wouldn't give my backup QB and a draft pick. I don't think there is any way this deal gets done. Dirk Diggler
I am tired of giving up draft choices! We need to keep our picks and develop them into strong players. That's one of the reason's why 2005 was our first playoff appearance in six years. Too much dependancy on big-named, "sexy" players and not enough on grooming from within your own house. I don't disagree with you. But Gibbs comes from a time where the philsophy was to take the bird in the hand. Nothing I've seen the past few seasons has led me to believe that he values draft picks any more now than he did back then. He tends to target a handful of players rather than the "sit back and see who falls in our lap" approach. We probably could have had picks for Coles but Gibbs preferred Moss. He traded a future pick for Cooley. He fell in love with Campbell and traded 2 future picks for him. He traded a pick for James Thrash. Am I missing anyone else? If this does happen - I'm not surprised that he prefers a player in return for Ramsey instead of picks. In fact, I'd be surprised if he didn't want a player. Donita35
There is no way this is a straight up deal. The Skins would have to give up...most their draft picks this year or a future #1 or something for this to make any sense. Clear this up for me. If it is not going to be a straight up trade, why would we have to sweeten the pot? It seems to me that the Jets would be in a win win because they are getting a QB and saving about $6million against the cap. They should give us another draft pick or something. :2cents:
TURKEYTALKER
the only problem with young players you pay them one or two years to ride the bench then they play for a couple of years then sign with someone ealse where as if you sign a free agent he plays right away
herrmag
Oh, thank goodness!! The John Thompson show is on! I'm sure they'll clear this up
skinstzar
Aaron Kampman is bigger than John Abraham by 25 pounds and had 81 takcles last year. Abraham had 58. That tells me that Kampman plays the run better. Keep Phillip Daniels and trade Ramsey to Green Bay, surely they don't want to go into next year with just an unproven Aaron Rodgers at the helm. We don't need any part of John Abraham.
