Marcus Vick

I saw this hinted at in an earlier thread and felt it deserved its own topic...

Suppose Marcus Vick is available in the 6th or 7th round... would you take a chance and draft him? Considering that most 6-7th rounders are generally throwaways (with the RARE exceptions of Tom Bradys, etc), would you gamble on Vick? Would you draft him higher than the 6th-7th? If he goes undrafted, would you pick him up cheap to try him out?

My thoughts are as follows-- I think he left Tech in a despicable manner, and disgraced himself in the process. However, given the tremendous upside he could potentially have (people once said he was better than Mikey), why not take a chance? Take a look at last year's draft--- did choosing any guys not named Campbell or Rogers affect our team? No. So, if he's available, I'd say take him late under the premise that if he stays straight off the field, he will have a shot to tryout for the team and possibly make the 3rd string. The chances that he turns himself around and springs back to be a player of his brother's caliber are very slim. However, that slim chance is enough for me to want to risk a throwaway pick.

Yes I would , however Gibbs wouldn't. Unless Saunders for some reason saw something in him he liked then i Doubt he will be a redskins. There are so many other risk taking coahes before Gibbs. Marcus Vick will go earlier then most people think. Someone like Mike Shanahan will take him in the 4th or 5th round

Someone in a much worse QB situation will pick him up. That being said, we aren't in too great shape at QB--we probably aren't keeping Ramsey and just how old can Brunell get? Besides, Marcus isn't a player who will want to be a 3rd string quarterback. If he has a chance to sit for too long and doesn't see any of the action he no doubt expects for himself I just can't imagine him waiting around explosion-free. Sorry to paint the most selfish picture possible marcus lovers, i'm a huge fan too, but he hasn't exactly made a point of earning anyones respect.

If we as a group of fans say no to TO, a guy whose transgressions amount to being a mouthy jerk who steals peoples parking spaces while catching 6 balls a game for 100 yards AND a score per game, then I say HELL NO to a mouthy little jerk who ain't done squat but be someones little brother so far.

Marcus is a head case. He needs counseling to get his life in order, not the pressures of pro ball when he couldn't even handle college, especially given all the advantages he had with his brother to guide him through the pitfalls.

He needs help.
