Guest sith lord
This years slam dunk contest was the best in many years. We actually seen dunks that has never been attempted and the crowd was into it. That's the good news. But here is the bad news. The guy who won, shouldn't have won. 5ft 9in Nate Robinson had the Spud Webb effect, and he was pretty good, but Andre Iguolada of the Sixers was the best dunker of the night, that's probably why the crowd booed when Nate Robinson was announced as champion. Like I said earlier, Robinson was good, when he got his dunks to go through, but he missed something like 20 dunks the entire night. That's right, he missed around 20 dunks. That's why there will probably be a rule change next year on the amount of dunks you can attempt, because last night was ridiculous. Robinson missed 13 dunks in a row and when he did finally get one to go down, the judges gave him a 47. After missing so many dunks in a row, there's no way he should of got a score that high. Anyone who seen it will tell you that Iguodala was the best of the night. They'll also tell you he completed a dunk that seemed impossible and that dunk already ranks as one of the best ever. Spaceman Spiff
Dala Dala had the best dunk of the night. I agree that Robinson was the favorite, but he can't be discounted. It really could have gone either way. First time a dunk contest went to an extra round. I don't think Iguodalas dunk in the extra round was better than Nates. Iguodala will, however, have the dunk thats constantly replayed over and over every year. I can't believe the NBA actually thought about doing away with the contest. If anything the contests over the past few years have shown that the new school players are really creative. This is stuff Jordan and Dominique never would have thought about doing. Only wish they had more contestants last night, it seemed to go by too fast.
Skinned
I thought that the whole unlimited amount of dunks thing was ridiculous. At times I felt that it was embarassing and a mockery of a contest. I will give Nate credit though because the ones he was trying were incredibly difficult. In the end, I don't mind Nate being given the win though, because, prior to the dunkoff, the finals were judged on 2 dunks and both did the same between the legs dunk on one of their attempts (although it must have been tougher for Nate being only 5'9"). On their other dunks in the final, Iggy had a cool one where he put the ball around his back (is a reverse way), while Nate had his big one where he completely jumped over Spud Webb (and Spud didn't duck at all!). Each received 50's for their difficult dunks.
jbooma
AI's dunk in the dunkoff was so so, Nate won it fair and square.
Guest sith lord
AI's dunk in the dunkoff was so so, Nate won it fair and square. Then why did everyone boo? Nothing against Nate, but how can you give him a 47 after he missed 13 in a row? They have got to change that rule.
dg28daman
Iguodala definatly had better dunks. I was really dissapointed with Josh Smith this year, his dunks were weak.

Yeah, and that dunk AI had in 2nd round from behind the backboard was just amazing in my opinion.
The Sir
Smoove's dunk from the free throw line was actually a pretty good dunk. I guess when everybody saw that line he put down on the court, it didn't seem as nice. But there's not a lot of people who can take off from the FT line and do a two handed dunk like that. roadkill
yeah the judges were at fault yesterday. it was so obvious they favored Nate. im not saying he shouldn'y have won, but the judges need to be unbiased

They have got to change that rule. They were booing because one of the judges held up a 10 and then put it down for a 9. Which I think would have given them a tie again. They can give him a 47 because missing dunks do not count against you. Think about the height of this guy and the difficulty of the last dunk he did. I don't think Iggy got robbed I just think he pulled out all his good stuff too early. Nate had a better dunk in the last round even though it took him a while to get it. Iggy had the best dunk I have ever seen though with the assist from Allen Iverson. I think the rule should be unlimited tries just have a time limit on it, like 2 1/2 minutes to get a dunk down or something. Also how about Dirk winning the 3 point contest?? I still believed Iggy had the best dunks. He got robbed the same way Wilkins got robbed in 86 against Webb. I geuss if you're under 5-10 you're sure to win. But anyway, they have got to put a limit on how many misses you get per round. Missing 13 dunks in a row and to still get a 47 is ridiculous. I wasn't that surprised that Dirk won the 3 point contest, even though if there was instant replay, it would of been proven that his money ball shot in the first round was after time had expired. bearrock
I think a good way to deal with multiple attempt would be to deduct a point or two for each miss.
ChocolateCitySkin
I watched some of it but I was working at the time and so I couldn't pay that much attention. I did really like the "behind the board jam" and over the the guys head.
jrockster21
You know, they always vote for the little guy, which is why NR probably won. But after watching the contest, I have to say the dunk over Webb was NUTS. N-U-T-S NUTS.
RDSKNfaithfull
I'm still waiting to see a shot of Damon Jones jacket  It was by far the best dunk contest since Wilkins days. Spuds twin deserved to win. AI's dunk at the end stunk he should have saved his best for the last round.
halter91
Guys shouldn't get 15 tries to make a dunk, but thatr's just me. AI got robbed, altough he should have save the behind the back board dunk for the finals.
Clutch03
I think a good way to deal with multiple attempt would be to deduct a point or two for each miss. I like this idea too. I think they should get unlimited dunks though. Because when Nate started his between the legs oop dunk, I needed to see him put that down. I hated before when a dunker would attempt a dunk and it looked good when he tried it but they could never finish it because of max attempts or time limit. Hopefully this will be resolved next year. Oh and I want them to invite some of the older players too … why just the newcomers? I mean I can’t get enough of Jason Richardson or Desmond Mason. Kilmer17
Id like to see a contest of jump shots and 5 man team game. Too bad the NBA couldnt find enough people with the talent to compete in that. Slam Dunk contests are what is wrong with the NBA. It's all about highlight reels. hu-bison-skinsfan
I, too, enjoyed the Slam Dunk Contest. As RDSKNfaithfull said, AI did his best dunk in the 2nd round -- that would've won it for sure. But anyone who jumps over someone his height to dunk should probably win -- he looked like something out of a video game. Also, its not as if Nate missed those dunks. He didn't go up and clang them off the rim or fail to get them over the rim, half of the time the throws were just awful so he just never left the ground. If they limit the attempts, as most of you have suggested, that would save us some time and the dunkers some embarrasment. This was a good comeback for that event, though...
